I need to come up with some flower options that (despite our color scheme of black, white, and red) do not involve red flowers. Florists have been telling me that red flowers (not only roses) will be much more expensive on Valentine's Day. I need to think of some flowers and colors that will go with our scheme but won't break the bank.
Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks!

Would they be able to tell you the difference price between February and January based on past years?

No worriers It's just Valentine's Day (and probably the 13th considering it's Valenswine's Day!)

I'm not sure..I think I'm missing the connection, though. How would knowledge of January prices help?

What about like a champagne color or pink hues.

What about Cream flowers with accents of black and red, not through flowers, but through Berries, Candles or Ribbons?

I know usually a week before Valentine's day they go up in price. Anniversary is the 11th and I bought FH a rose one year and it was very $$$$

We're on the 12th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we wont have to pay through the roof.

Re: Need some flower help
Thanks for all of your help, ladies. My concern with pink (although I like the color) is that we're trying to avoid the whole 'Valentine's Day' theme and go with more of a formal (red, white, black) theme. I guess I can go with whites and try red non-floral accents. Roses would be the obvious choice except that their price is sky high on this day, too!

Re: Need some flower help
To be honest, I would check with other florists. I've been to four now and all but one told me no matter what time of year, flowers are the same prices. This is because they import them from certain places. So I am getting red roses in January, which is considered a premium month for them but it didn't reflect in the price. Definitely shop around.

Ahh, good to know! I've been told that they (the floral designers) have to charge the consumer more because THEY are charged more by the growers at this time of year.
Now I have to go into the florists thinking the same thing as when I go into a mechanics...'I'm about to get ripped off!' So sad.
