Need some help!

Need some help!

Hi everyone!

This is my first post and I would really appreciate any help you can give. I can't wait for our wedding -- it's this coming August. We already booked the church, the hall and the DJ. We had my MOH design Save the Date Magnets and had them printed -- though I can't seem to find envelopes for them (any help there?).

I'm thinking about going with Verbena for flowers, but I'm completely lost when it comes to the photographer and invitations. Any suggestions?

To complicate matters, I had a cyst removed from one of my vocal chords in the beginning of December and I can't speak until at least sometime next week. Even then, I won't be 'allowed' to speak on the phone for some time after that. So -- communicating with vendors over the phone is out. I had to physically go to the dress place to set up an appointment for tomorrow -- I don't have a dress yet either! The only good thing about it is that I'm out of work until my voice is strong enough for me to go back (I'm a teacher and a singer), so I have plenty of time. I guess I just need some suggestions -- a starting point.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Also- the reception is at the Milleridge Cottage. Does anyone know anything about the florist there?

I loved using with Duet (photography) and I believe I was able to set up my appointment with them via email.

I actually ordered my invites from notfromabox.com and was really happy with them.

A few things -

1. congrats on your engagement!

2. I'm sorry about the cyst! I sing a lot (not for a living, though) and would be lost without my voice. Hope you heal soon!

3. I loooove Duet. I booked them and my sister used them for her wedding in 2004. They were fantastic, and from what I hear, no matter what team you get, they are all good.

4. My sister made Save the date magnets for her SIL just a few weeks ago, and found envelopes at staples that they fit into perfectly. I do not know what size your magnet is - but I would suggest looking there.

5. Do you have any friends or family members that could make appts for you via the phone? Maybe your maid of honor? It would be easy to explain - 'My friend is getting married and lost her voice, but wants to come see you soon. Can I make an appt for her?' You don't need to explain the whole thing.

Hope that helps. Good luck and congrats again.

Thank you so much for your advice. MOH lives in Atlanta now, but I catch your drift -- I need to do more delegating. As for your honeymoon, well -- my fiancee and I decided on Alaska. We're going to Vegas for 2 or 3 days the day after the wedding, then flying into Vancouver and staying there for a day before our cruise leaves. We're staying overnight in Anchorage after the cruise is over. It should be awesome.
Thanks again!

Re: Need some help!

I spent about 1/2 an hour reading your story and reviews yesterday --maybe more-- amazing! It looks like it was a dream wedding. It just seemed like you had a clear vision of what everything would look like. I wish I did, though things seem to be coming together. I've never been a big decorator. I think I'm going to use Jen, too, for flowers. A very close friend of mine did and I went with her once to help out. Jen was awesome and the flowers were beautiful.

I will definitely let you know if we have any questions about Alaska -- we have a bajillion magazines and brochures and the travel channel, but picking someone's brain seems more authentic.

Thank you so much!

haha..i know my review is pretty in depth!!

anyhow, trust me michelle!...it didnt all come together til the later stages of planning...it started out with asian touches/lanterns and whatnot and took a huge turn to beachy. i felt like none of my ideas were cohesive. but it does come together as you continue planning!! GL!

we're all here to help!
