Re: need some ideas.........
I found that things like... FG Baskets/Pillows, cake toppers, Unity Candles, Invitations, Favors, BP gifts, JEWELRY, Shoes........ ARE ALL BEST ordered online. Online prices were drastically lower in most cases than buying in the stores, especially EBAY. Also a great place to shop are Flea Markets.

I am doing my own invites, ring bear pillow, and other DIY projects small things add up.... You can use more candles and less flowers, or take out some things from your cocktail hour.

Re: need some ideas.........
I made my own programs, menus, place cards, donation cards and table nos. on my computer.
I addressed and assembled my own invites (screw calligraphy! I just used a liquid gold pen from Michaels)
I shoving the whole BP in one limo (verses one for the girls and one for the guys)
We're giving a donation to Comfort Zone Camp instead of favors. ($500 to sponsor a kid for the weekend)
We're having just a keyboard guy for the cocktail hour (which is $350 cheaper than a jazz trio)
Got a hair jewel at TriCounty for $29 (instead of the one I liked online for $75!)
Got my dress altered at a private seamstress (Macy's wanted $810 to alter, bustle and add lace & beads to my gown!)
but to be honest I stink with $$ so I wouldn't be surprised if all my DIYs cost more than getting it done for me.

Re: need some ideas.........
Things we aren't doing are Unity candle, upgrade CP's, didn't upgrade the flowers in bo-q's, but still got what I wanted. Going to try not to uprade the cake. We are saving xtra money for pastries on tables, hour OT at reception and possibly bottled beer. Things on back burner after that is bathroom and slipper baskets. We are getting a 20 pass. SUV limo for 3 hrs, just to get BP to photo location and RH. We booked a hotel with a shuttle so we can all get there after the party! I am doing DIY invites, ordered pocketfolds and everything else I am making. Good Luck, there are always things to cut back on.

Re: need some ideas.........
Doing my own flowers, although that's not for everyone. Lots of shopping around, and shopping online, such as, I bought my ringbearer's pillow on eBay for $11.99, custom made. All the ones I saw for sale were at least $25 for some sleazy, badly sewn satin. At least if I'm going to have sleazy, badly sewn satin, it will be cheap! I had the invitations printed, but I'm doing all the other printing myself. Just put in a big order to Paper Source for the placecards (our hall provides some but they're hideous), wish bowl cards and envelopes, and the cards and paper for the programs. I didn't need a cake knife or server, not really, but I saw pretty vintage ones on eBay and I'm getting them for twenty bucks. We're not doing OOT baskets. No slipper baskets either, or cry packs. I am doing petal cones, but they'll be cheap, and I'm doing rose petals, but no aisle runner. I'll do bathroom baskets, because that's one thing that guests really do appreciate in an emergency, and who wants someone either leaving the party to go buy Pepto, or going around asking everyone for some. My flower girl basket is a $5 Easter basket from Michael's trimmed with ribbon from M&J Trim in Manhattan. I wanted lots of votives, and I really wanted some in pale yellow, my wedding color, and I managed to get 72 of them on eBay for $56 including shipping (and glass is heavy.) I think they're really going to make a difference in how nice my tables look. I need to buy vases for the centerpieces, but they'll be way cheap plain glass ones, as no one notices the vases, and they'll likely go home with the guests taking the flowers. My dad is going to do the calligraphy for our ketubah--if we do one, I haven't decided--and we're making the chuppah ourselves, just four poles holding up a piece of cloth, but I'm not sure what the cloth will be, yet.. Need to get on that, actually. Sigh. So much to do!!!

Re: need some ideas.........
We're not doing:
> Bathroom Baskets > Slipper Basket > Cry Packets > Church decorations (just pew bows for family) > A live band (DJ was cheaper) > Purchasing our honeymoon with Last Minute Deals > DIY'ing our own flowers > Made our own invitations, programs, menu cards > Limos (we went through Enterprise rent a car and rented an Excursion instead which was 80% cheaper for the day) > We decided against wedding gifts for each other - when you really think about it, what is the NEED for that? > Did buffett dinner over sit down > No flower girl or ring bearer so we save on that stuff
I'm sure there are more things, but that's all I can think of right now

Re: need some ideas.........
We started out by shopping arond for the best prices and we went with the vendors that we felt were giving us the most for our money. We went with the basic DJ package (just the DJ & MC).We aren't doing a videographer or limos. We got our invitations online from Invitations by Dawn. We also got our flower girls basket, guest book, groomsman gifts, FMIL gift, organze bags (for candy), favors, cameras and a couple of other odds and ends online (either from ebay or Blue Rainbow Designs). We got our our girls jewelery onsale at Kohls. We also did our std's ourselves.
