Need some opinions...is it worth it?

Need some opinions...is it worth it?

Sorry it's so long! But if you make it to the end lol

Ok, so I'm having a little bit of an internal struggle right now. I've been trying to find an indoor spot for pictures in case the weather isn't holding up the day of the wedding...I was looking at vineyards in the area that were a) close to The Vineyards, b) had a cellar room with tons of wine barrels, and c) didn't cost an arm and a leg. The only place I loved was Raphael and it's a good 20 minutes away, and they charge $250 an hour!

In my search, I came across an Inn in Jamesport that I am currently OBSESSED with. They have a 3 level suite which I could stay in the night before the wedding and then have my girls get ready in...as well as take some really cool pictures, I think. There are a ton of indoor photo ops in this place - as well as outdoor spots.

Here's the dilemma - it's $695 a night.

So what I'm thinking about right now is that $695 would take care of:

$129 hotel room I would be staying in the night before the wedding
$150 conference room rental at the hotel for the girls to get ready in
$?? for an indoor picture location

It's still a lot more, but I could also have some of my BMs stay there with me and possibly split the cost.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

How many people does the suite sleep? If you are all able to stay in the one room and split the cost amongst you than I say it's totally worth it.

ETA: Just saw the pics! My god that place is gorgeous. Do it!

DO IT!

It seems like your only other option is Raphael right now and that's going to bring you to about $500 anyway with your hotel and conference center for getting ready. And that's only 1 hour at Raphael. Anything more than one hour is going to cost you more than the Jamesport inn.

Plus, like you said, if you get two or three of the girls to stay with you, you could probably get them to chip in like $50 each (i mean, they're getting a free night in a hotel - $50 is nothing) and then that would reduce your cost.

If I were you, I'd totally do it because then you have unlimited photo taking ability because you're a guest there. You might want to find out if they'll let you just come there and take pics or if you have to be a guest. That might be another option?

yes! I seriously can't stop looking at pics of this place - it's gorgeousssssss. i just emailed them to find out more info in terms of checkout time and that sort of thing - we wouldn't be done there until around 2ish, which is later than most places allow you to check out...and there's no way I can pay for 2 nights there lol

Good point about Raphael Lisa - I don't know if 1 hour would be enough anyway for our pics & the BP

I should definitely find out if we can at least take pictures at the Inn if staying overnight is not an option - I actually like this place better than Raphael anyway, it's literally 3 minutes up the road

WOW. What a gorgeous location. I'm a bad influence, but you only get married once (hopefully!) so I say go for it!

that was sort of my argument with FH...that, and the fact that we're spending $5000 on a photographer, so we might as well have awesome locations for her to take pics lol

idk how, but that argument worked - FH is on board!

OMG that's GORGEOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.... oooh but $695 seems like a lot of $ but if it's something that will give you less stress esp when thinking of indoor photo opps in case it rains, then it's worth it....it is so beautiful!

That place is beautiful but very $$$. If you are concerned about the cost you can always take pictures at a nearby barn, library or the aquarium. That is my backup plan. I was thinking of staying at that Inn for the night of the wedding but it was too much so I booked two adjoining rooms at the Hilton which are big enough to fit the whole bridal party for getting ready that way I don't have to rent the conference room.

Otherwise, I say splurge I think it will beautiful rain or shine.

i know, it's so hard to just be like 'oh yeah, $695? no biggie' FH says go for it, but I still feel like about forking over almost $700 for one night.

butttt you're right - if it rains the day of the wedding, at least i won't be stressing about my pics

i wasn't sure that 2 adjoining rooms would be enough room - i have 8 BMs, my mom, and the hair & MU ppl. How many ppl are you planning on fitting in the 2 rooms?

I have 9 bridesmaids and two moms. I got a king room and a queen adjoining. You need to ask for the handicapped room. I think it is def. enough space. Plus all my girls will be staying at the hotel but they will get their hair and makeup done in my rooms.

Re: Need some opinions...is it worth it?

I think the best way to think about it is the way that you did!! If you figure the cost for any other room you would stay in, the price for the conference room, and the picture taking location fee- I think it is safe to say you would only be saving like $295. I know $300 isn't pennies, but I would think about the BEAUTY of this place and how many GREAT, UNIQUE pictures you will have- andddddddd you won't have to stress about an indoor picture location if it is a rainy day (fingers crossed it will not be)!

Ker- this place is AMAZING. YOU NEED TO DO IT.
