Buzz up! Police were called to a Geneseo home notorious for wild parties late Saturday, the night before a college student was found dead inside.
The responding officer didn't go to the door at 4359 Lower Court St., apparently satisfied there was nothing to investigate. But inside, State University College at Geneseo sophomore Arman Partamian was passing out after a 10-hour drinking binge. He was found dead in the house Sunday.
State Police Major Mark Koss said Partamian, 19, consumed beer, champagne, gin and vodka between about 1 and 11 p.m. Saturday.
'We've been told he appeared to be heavily intoxicated and he was taken up to a bedroom,' Koss said during a news conference Monday morning.
Partamian, of Flushing, Queens, was unresponsive about 11 a.m. Sunday, so 911 was called. He was pronounced dead at the scene about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Koss said.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy, but the cause of death might not be known for six to eight weeks, Koss said.
Robert A. Bonfiglio, vice president for student and campus life, said students were 'dumbfounded' by the incident.
Kristen Nosky, 19, a sophomore from Penfield, said the tragedy is 'affecting the whole school.'
'We're all coming together to try to help each other out and really remember him in a good way. We're all trying to look out for each other and make everybody around us feel better,' she said.
Although Koss said it's likely that the death is related to excessive drinking, he pointed out that Partamian, who lived in Ontario Hall on the Geneseo campus, also suffered from Evan's syndrome, a blood disorder.
Partamian is the second area college student to be found dead after a night of partying. On Jan. 31, Hobart and William Smith Colleges student Warren Kimber IV, 20, of Summit, N.J., was found dead at an off-campus house.
