A co-worker of mine is about to pick up an e-ring for his girlfriend and doesn't really know how he should propose. He's thinking of taking her out to dinner to her favorite restaurant, but isn't 100% sure that he wants to do it there, in public.
Anyone have some ideas for him?

fh's cousin just proposed to his gf.. they went to her favorite resturant in the city and then he did it on the horse and carriage ride through central park!

what about a hot air balloon ride?
or since the summer is coming he can take her for a walk on the beach and have it written out in the sand and when they get to the spot he can propose

After the restaurant what if he got a hotel room for the night. He could get some help from a friend/sibling and when they're on their way to the hotel the friends can scatter rose petals and light a ton of candles. Also make sure to have champagne and glasses. That way he can propose privately, but it will still be very romantic. Let her be the one to open the door, she'll be so surprised!

I was just about to suggest that. Some people would prefer that the proposal is more private than in a restaurant. Alternatively, if a hotel is not possible, they could have dinner but take dessert to go. He could take her to his house which could be decorated with rose petals.
I would say it depends on what his girlfriend is like. Will she hate being proposed to in public? She may love it. My fiance proposed to me at a restaurant. He got down on one knee and we were sitting outside. The restaurant looks out onto the water and city skyline so everyone inside could see us through the glass walls of the restaurant. Everyone started clapping and banging on the windows. It was an awesome and unforgettable moment! I loved it but like I said, his girlfriend may hate it depending on her personality.

I read this on some website Go to build a bear and make a bride bear and then have them put the recordable box in it so when you squeeze its hand it say 'will you marry me'

i heard someone who had done this - but he would need some help of a friend who would be a 'spotter'
the guy planned to propose at the beach and he set up a bottle with the ring and a poem asking him to marry her inside the bottle - his friend got there before him and placed the bottle in the sand and watched it - when he saw them coming he ran away anf the guy asked the girl to pick up the bottle wondering what was in it...
it was a great story - but i dont know if it would work out or no
