Need suggestions for cover up

What about a white pashmina shawl? You can always use that afterwards as a shawl with a dress or a scarf in the winter.
What does that signify? is it because you are the next to get married? My MOH and BM are both gettin married right after me and I would love to do something special for them--since I am the first--thank god I get to get it over with--I would rather be at their wedding saying we should have.... rather than lets...
