Need suggestions for unique ways to make aisle at outdoor ceremony.
My wedding is outside, in the grass, right on the edge of a lake. I really don't want to use a traditional aisle runner but I'd like to mark some sort of path. Our guests will be standing since it is such a short ceremony. What can I do in advance so our guests will know to stand to either side???
TIA!

you could spread lots of petals - to save money mix carnations and rose petals
you could place little decorative post and drape a little fabric from one post to another

You could use those paper luminaries to make a walkway/aisle.

That's a cute idea, or with the petals idea, you could also use the petals to outline the path.

I like that idea too! Those are beautiful. But the ceremony is during daylight.

YES YES...Im getting ideas!! What time is the ceremony? The paper lumanaries are awesome idea..BUT only if its at least dusk ya know?
The rose petals are a GREAT idea!! Wht stores you got up there in Maine that have them cheap? They tend to get expensive and you need a lot to make it dramatic....OR....You could line the aisle ( either side) with some type of fabric...so your walking down the empty middle but it still looks like an aisle and then use the rose petals as accents..
Dont worry, you've FINALLY given me something to help with...I will go look....

Help!
I was thinking of getting some garden stakes (like 3 ft. tall) and painting them white and then draping tulle between them. Then decorating with some silk flowers. AND doing flower petals on the ground. Ugh, I don't think I have the energy for any new projects.

If you are looking for rose petals, they sell fake (but realistic looking!) ones on ebay. Many in any colors you prefer.

Thanks! I've actually discovered that it's cheapest to buy silk flowers at a store like Walmart and cut the petals off myself. That's how I'm decorating the tables!

At our hall they have potted plants along the aisle. I love it!

Pots of flowers could work. Be careful without a runner or with colored rose petals. The grass (esp. if it is wet) and the rose petals could stain the dress. Also without a runner, you heels may sink in the ground.

But with a runner her heels are gonna sink into the paper runner...
donna- have you tried buying fabric to make a fabric runner? You could out rose petals on the sides so it didnt have to be a hemmed/seamed runner? It could be any white fabric?

Almost always the paper runner is over a carpet runner or some other type of runner (like a fake grass one) with a backing to prevent the shoe situation.

Aha! Didn't even think of that! Guess I should bite the bullet and get a runner.

I am having problems with the same decision. Oheka has this hideous fake green grass like thing that lays underneath the runner. But it is wider so you can see it. The only solution we can come up with is covering the sides with rose petals but it would need to be like seven dump trucks full of rose petals. If I figure out a solution, I will fm you.
