Need suggestions for unique ways to make aisle at outdoor ceremony.

Original post by Rainmama

My wedding is outside, in the grass, right on the edge of a lake. I really don't want to use a traditional aisle runner but I'd like to mark some sort of path. Our guests will be standing since it is such a short ceremony. What can I do in advance so our guests will know to stand to either side???

TIA!

I am having problems with the same decision. Oheka has this hideous fake green grass like thing that lays underneath the runner. But it is wider so you can see it. The only solution we can come up with is covering the sides with rose petals but it would need to be like seven dump trucks full of rose petals. If I figure out a solution, I will fm you.

THANK YOU! This is the one detail left that is bringing me the most stress.

This may be a bulky, costly & time consuming idea but here goes (it was in Martha Stewart!) ... they took peices of plywood & lined the aisle with them. To hide the wood they glued a light blue toile wallpaper on it. I'm not sure what happens at a seam or how they maybe attached the peices but it's an idea you could build off of.

One girl I know sewed 2 peices of while moire wallpaper together & it was better than paper or fabric because it was stronger & so pretty.

I will try to save it differently and see if it works. Basically they are large topiaries covered in tulle.

No chairs...short ceremony, small amount of guests. It wasn't worth renting chairs for a 10 minute ceremony.

Thanks for your help!!!

Not including the bridal party, about 35-40 guests.

Re: Need suggestions for unique ways to make aisle at outdoor ceremony.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

I ended up making my own aisle markers tonight! It was so simple (took me an hour), inexpensive ($20 total), and looks SO pretty!

I took 6 large terra cotta pots (my CPs and favors are made with smaller ones) and placed long, silk sunflowers in each one. Stuffed them with newspapers to keep the flowers upright and covered the opening with spanish moss. Then I wrapped them with burgundy tulle and tied with raffia. I placed 3 to either side and between the stalks hung garland made of autumn leaves to create a little fence.

They fit my theme so well and will look great in our location since the leaves are already changing.
I can't wait!!!!!!!!
