what does it say in your contract? Many places will give it back to you within a certain amount of time.

YIKES! What does your contract say about cancellations?? Hopefully they will return your deposit since it was fairly recent but you may have to lose it if that's what the contract states.

Sorry, I hope it works out in your favor!

275!!?!

Where is Glen Island Harbor Club? I know certain counties have laws about how much money you're entitled to when you cancel an event.

If it was only a week ago, maybe they'll be nice and just giv eyou back the deposit... I think we had a 2 week no questions asked cancellation clause in our contract.

you should read your contract and also call and see if they'll work with you.

since you just booked, some RH's will return your deposit, but only keep a certain amount for the 'inconvenience'..and most of the time, they'll keep your deposit till they re-book your date.

Glen Island is in New Rochelle..When I booked I had Bridal Blinders on..lol...I just don't know what I should say to the guy to get out of this. It doesn't say anything in the contract about refunds

Is Glen Island in Suffolk County? I beleive RH's in Suffolk County are allowed by law to refund your deposit (to a certain percent) if you Notify them of Cancellation within a certain time frame (usually 6 months or more).

Def call and get the skinny. Most of the time, you may have to appear in person to get out of it.
See if they can re-negotiate the terms of the contract...maybe if you can lower the minimum, they will work with you on other things..like menu selection, adding on extra stations or a VH hour.

Just be honest and admit that after going over your guest list and budget, they are out of your price range. Then ask what their policy on refunds are. If they say they keep the deposit, try to negotiate the amount since they still have alot of time to book the date.

IDK about New Rochelle but I would call and say something along the lines of that you and FH were so excited about the place that you were thinking it was doable but (IDK..maybe say 1 of you lost your job) and you know you can't afford the payments

Maybe they will lower the minimum or change the payment plan.

do you still love this RH? Is thi where you still want to get married if the guaranteed minimum was lower?

If your answer is yes, call and speak to them ASAP! maybe they can lower the minimum for you. Are yu getting married on a Fri, Sat or Sun? Sat min are usually higher than friday and sunday, maybe you can switch the dates?

oh and not for nothing, but i have never heard of a RH charging almost $8k only 30 days after the inital deposit. that's insane and a lot of money!

I just called and I have to write a letter releasing the date. Even though I booked last wednesday (which is only 4 business days) They won't give me my $1000 back and the BM is on vacay...ughhhhhhhhhhh

do yu still want to get married there? speak to another BM or go in person and see if they will lower your minimums

So you'll release the date and they'll give you the money back when they rebook the date, right?
