Me and FH booked Glen Id=sland Harbor Club last week. We gave them $1000 deposit and they want $7800 in 30 days we had to guarentee 275 and we're not gonna make it. I need to get out of this...any advice

Omg, i would have had a heart attack! It's a good thing you realized early on that you wanted to back out of the contract there, compared to how much money you could have lost. They are REALLY expensive!

i would call now too! they have PLENTY of time to rebook and your date seems popular 11/11/11 if i recall correctly. i would think they would have told you that you needed 275 people when you signed the contract! thats A LOT!

I am sorry, but as GI bride I KNOW they give the money back if u dont like the food which u do within the 30 days AND most important GI doesnt need that many ppl, u can always lower ur min. the lowest u can book there is 100 ppl
if u just dont like the place anymore, so ye u do have to wait for the date to be rebooked to have ur 1K back
this is btw the way it is w/most RH's canceling policies

Yes seriously!! 275 is a HUGE number!!! I didnt even want to guarantee 175! Read the fine print!

id def look into y our contract and then call them right away...u have time to find a new place...so hopefully they will be understanding about the whole situation

i would call them.....i heard about that place, someone from my work got married there. I hear its gorgeous but expensive. 7800 is alot to ask for so soon

I had to guarentee that much to be the only event and when I thought it through it wasn't going to work. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the place but its too much $$$$ with tax and gratutity its over $210 a head times 275 is ALOT...so my search continues

Don't worry maybe there is a reason you are changing venues. There are so many on LI that are beautiful and affordable you just need to be strict when you go in and realistic about your budget. Are you looking for places on the water? Venetian Yacht Club is very nice the room upstairs is absolutely breahttaking!! It was out of my budget otherwise I prob would have booked there. There is Lombardis on the Sound not as fancy but pretty and the view of the sound is amazing. If you have any other questions fm and I will try my best to help since I have been to alot of reception halls in my search myself!

Why are they asking for so much up front. I never give alot of money before an event bc u never know what can happen. Does it say in your contract that you needed to put that much more down so soon?
