I am getting married in May... only 5 months away and I still haven't booked the DJ or Photographer or ordered the bridal party dresses. I feel like I can't deal with it until after christmas. Our reception and florist is booked, and my dress is bought too at least. Is anyone else out there behind like me? Or am I all alone? We've been engaged for a year---but our wedding has still snuck up on me!

I would try to order the bm dresses asap because they do take a little while to come in plus the alterations may take a few weeks to get perfect. I would also try to get the photographer and dj before christmas. Try to remember that a TON of people get engaged for christmas/new years. They will all be psycho planning in january so it is going to be difficult to make appointments with some places. HTH!!

Well I believe most of us have our major vendors booked. I think you should start looking for you DJ now. May i s only 5 months away. Vendors book up quickly. Also I would do photography ASAP

We have an appointment to look at bridesmaids dresses with everyone right after xmas... it was easiest for the out of towners... I am planning on doing with tea length dresses from David's Bridal in the color pool.. I cant decide which one... WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Can anyone suggest a photographer/DJ that is good but still affordable!!?? We are paying for it all ourselves and are getting in a little over our heads!

Those dresses are great...I especially love the first one! That is an amazing color! David's Bridal is especially speedy with their BM dresses! Good luck! FYI We're getting married on 6/28 and we haven't booked our DJ yet either!

You should defin start trying to book your big vendors Your date is extremely Popular, i think that date is the one with the most brides getting married from LIW that day

I'm only 2 months after you, and I haven't done anything other than book my hall and rabbi yet. I'm working on the dress shopping -- and will probably order it in the next week or two, and will do everything else in January. You should get moving, but you are fine! Don't stress, enjoy your holiday, and then get booking. I need to take my own advice now

We're the day before you and we haven't booked a DJ yet either. We met with Tommy Tunes a while ago and do have an appointment with FM Entertainments next weekend. We're just booking out florist now. I'm just doing hair & make up trials this week. If you have particular vendors you want, definitely make appointments and check their availabilities ASAP.....but if it doesn't matter WHO it is as long as they're good.....I'm sure there's someone out there who won't be booked yet. But IMO, I would meet with DJ's before Christmas if you can, because a lot of them get booked by word of mouth and a DJ is one of those vendors you might not want to book if no one has used them before.
Of course life gets in the way of wedding planning and sometimes the planning doesn't go exactly as we would have hoped it would, but definitely start the process as soon as you can, because there are still good vendors out there who aren't booked yet. Good luck!

i like your dresses, and if you're using David's your dresses will come in quickly. Are you using them for alterations also?

I am not sure if I am using david's for alterations as well.. I hear some good and bad things about them. Has anyone used them? It will probably be easiest to get them done there... but I may get a price quote there and somewhere else also.

Also, thats Memorial Day weekend, definitely book your hotels asap!! That will book up quickly!
