Re: need to talk
Just hang in there! There is nothing wrong with crying. You might even get some relief from it. I know it is a difficult time, and Fh and I argue all the time b/c we are both stressed and under alot of pressure. It isn't anyting that you can work through. It will get better! Try to sit down and just talk to FH and let him know how you feel, and tell him that you are stressed out. He will understand......everything will be ok. Be honest with him and you can't go wrong.

Re: need to talk
I am really tryng to make a wedding that my dad would be proud of. You see he suddenly passed away 2 years ago and now that the wedding is so close my biggest fear is trying to get through it without him and it is so hard, because I miss him so much, but I know he would want me to have the wedding of my dreams, but as it gets closer I don't know how to do that without him. I am sorry to be so emotional I guess I just need to let it out.

Re: need to talk
wedding planning adds a lot of stress to relationships. but take a moment, then walk in that other room and talk it out. you dont want to go to sleep angry at each other, especially on your bday

Don't be sorry More than anything your dad would want you to be happy. He will be with you that day and as long as you are happy, I think you will have made his dreams come true.

Re: need to talk
Sounds like you have a lot on your plate....we all know how stressful it gets (especially near the end) and especially w/ your dad on your mind....I'm sure your emotions are all over. I'm sorry you & FH had a fight, you are both probably just beyond stressed.
I'd let him/you cool off for a bit and then go in & kiss him goodnight & go to sleep (nicely). Don't talk tonight, its late & tempers may flare.....
You'll have more perspective in the am.

Re: need to talk
I guess this all stemed from today talking with the band when they asked me about the father/daughter dance and mother/son dance, and told them there will just be a mother/son dance and thats it, It's hard I mean I look at my mom and I just want to cry we were a very close family and thinking of her at my wedding without my dad just rips me apart. I always dreamed of my dad walking me down the aisle.
again I am sorry guys, I am just a bit emotional tonight.

Re: need to talk
We can all understand being emotional. My FH knows to not even look at me funny the week of my Bday b/c of an accident that happened 10 years ago and took the life of a very good friend. He knows I still get upset, even though it's been so long. You never get over losing someone and you never know when something will trigger a memory of them. My only advice is to keep crying and keep talking. There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep your father's memory alive. Have you thought about a special tribute of some kind at the wedding?
Please FM me if you need to talk. I'm really good at listening!

Re: need to talk
Considering the circumstances, I think how you are feeling is probably quite normal. Take comfort in knowing you are marrying, what I can only assume is, a wonderful man. My heart breaks for you that you will not have your father with you on your wedding day, however, I am sure he will be looking down and ensuring that your day runs as smoothly as possible. Planning a wedding under any circumstances is a stressful, life-changing event, and it can bring out the tears and frustration in any of us. I hope you're feeling better today. Sometimes we just NEED to break down a little. It's the rebuilding that always makes us stronger

Re: need to talk
Don't worry... it will get better. It's just normal wedding stress that's getting to you, plus all the emotions you're feeling. I'm sure your FH understands that, and things will be fine. I'm sorry this happened on your b-day. If you feel you were the one who was wrong in this argument, you can say to him, 'I'm sorry I blew up at you about ____, but I can't tell you how stressed I am about our wedding.' You miss your dad. That's completely understandable, and I'm so sorry you're going through this.
You said you were a close family, did you consider dancing with your mom during the wedding? A lot of girls do that... and you can do it in tribute to your dad. I'm sure it will be a hard moment for you during the ceremony. but it would honor your mom and dad.
I'm sorry you're so upset... remember that corny saying, 'This, too, shall pass?'. It's true.

It was very stressful for me too. We argued constantly. Over stupid little stuff. I was even second guessing myself. It's completely normal to be stressed. Just hang in. It's almost over. And when it was over and we calmed down we were like why? Why were we fighting? Why were we stressed?

Re: need to talk
I think it is totally normal to get emotional and stressed out a few weeks before the wedding especially thinking about your dad and all. My friend got married 3 months ago and for about 3 weeks before the wedding she fought with her FH and cried atleast once a day, she must have said atleast a dozen times that she wanted to call off the wedding, the day came she saw him at the front of the aisle and knew that she was doing the right thing, just hang in there its almost here!!

Re: need to talk
I lost my dad years ago and it is quite scary thinking about him not being there to walk me down the aisle - and I wouldn't consider anyone else.
I think it was definitely brought to a head when you spoke with the band. Sometimes something so simple will dig up deep feelings.
Take a deep breath and when things are calmer tell your FI that this issue is making you emotional - that way next time something happens that broaches this he will give you some leeway...
If he knows what is bringing on your emotion he will be more apt to be supportive.
Much hugs!

Very well said. FH lost his mom years ago but going over the mother/son dance did get him emotional as well. I do think this is totally normal.
And Happy birthday I'm on 3/25

This is a very stressful time. You're both going through the last minute details tha never seem to stop. I know, as I'm 1 week before you. It's alright.

Re: need to talk
Cry all you need to, sometimes that is the only way to let out all the emotions, and help to de-stress.

HI SWEETY, THE STRESSES OF A WEDDING WILL STRESS ALL OF US OUT. A GOOD CRY IS OK. JUST REMEMBER ALL THE REASONS WHY YOU ARE MARRYING YOUR FIANCE. GIVE HIM A CALL AFTER YOU ARE FEELING BETTER, HE WILL UNDERSTAND. EXPLAIN TO HIM THE WEDDING STRESS IS GETTING THE BEST OF YOU. HANG IN THERE. FM ME IF YOU WANT.
