NEED TO VENT

So, we have some out of town guests...why are these people asking if they can invite their brothers, sisters, friends, in addition to themselves and their significan other? I don't get it...PEOPLE GET A CLUE!!! It doesn't say, 'BACKYARD BBQ!!!!' ***

One friend just emailed me and said, 'I told my brother and wife and they want to come and my bro. told his son and he wants to come with his girlfriend!!!' I mean are you serious????!!!! UGH
People don't get it!!!

they truly dont get it sorry I had to laugh when u said backyard bbq but you couldnt have said it any better people really dont realize how formal it is

Where are these people from!?! Maybe they don't understand the concept of a sit down dinner. I would email back immediatley and say,

The invite is for _______(fill in name)________ only. But thank you for letting me know that so many people have well wishes for our big day!

that's insane!! and i thought indian poeple were bad! we even had to word it as __ of __ will be attending bcuz even though i hated doing that, people will bring themselves and their mothers.
even with our reply card worded like that, w actually had someone respond 7 of 3 will attend!!

I have no clue why people do this..I keep thinking that when I invite people they will be smart enough not too....but between this site and other friends it seems inevitable!! I wish you luck. I guess you'll just have to be honest with them?

Yea I told them all no, I said it's only for family and close friends...hence you can't invite the neighbors

WOW that is crazy...exactly like you said, this is not a backyard bbq. Its a wedding, not just a party to bring as many people as you want. I can't believe some people. I would never be able to say to someone, oh my family wants to attend a wedding, can they just come?

just tell them no...say you have a maximum number you have to stick by or else your room will get real crowded, and that for some crazy reason your giving priority to YOUR friends and family

i keep telling people - throw your own party, then you can invite whoever you want!

I feel your pain. I already know I am in for something bad with this guestlist of mine. I already had family that I barely seen in decades coming up to me asking me if they (& their whole brood) are invited. Mind you I didn't even know when they had kids or their kids names (that is how much they contact us!!!)

I think thats insane. FH and I are tyring to figure out now how we will curb all the reckless RSVP's when my sister got married 1 person RSVP'd for 12. The invite was sent to a house of 3. ***????
