I think that is the craziest thing i have read in a while,

I would never ask to go anywhere without a written invitation. That was just how i was brought up, you dont just go and invite yourself.
And i would feel so stupid, if i didnt get an invite im obv not invited, why would i make a fool of myself

These people need to get a clue

Unfortunately people for other places don't always understand. When my sister got married in NC even her SIL was like oh I invted my friend and her husband and their two kids. My sister was like sorry no they can't come. She didn't get that it wasn't a free for all pot luck type of event.

Lets just say many of them were floored with what went on.

yea I agree Future Mrs. M. I was raised the same and I think a lot of people are. Unless it's in a house, you shouldn't assume it's a free for all

Thats why on my invites it says on the reception card 'ADULT RECEPTION at....'
and on the reply card:

The favour of your reply is requested ...
M_________________________
____will attend __will not attend
___ number of guests.

Its going to help me weed out and keep my mom busy putting people in line. Nowadays people have no sense of manners or etiquette.

Mine says the exact thing as yours except the adult reception part...and they still manage to ask...at this point you have to say...CLOSE FRIENDS and FAMILY only event
