Need to vent.....need some help

Need to vent.....need some help

First question....Do your invites have raised lettering and are you putting tissue over your invitation?

Ok so we had our invitations printed 2 months ago and they are basic....with raised lettering.

We ordered a beautiful sheer wrap to go around the invitation and decided not to put the tissue in because it looked strange. We sealed 90 of 150 invitations already and just got a note from FFIL saying we should include the tissue. (He was in the printing business for 10 yrs). The tissue protects the lettering....and because our lettering is gray and very light....it may already be hard to read the the tissue will make sure the letters and powder dont wipe away.

Anyway.....I totally believe him but I also wanted to say that these invitations have been sitting in a box for 2 months with no tissue! Why does that make a big difference now to add the tissue? He seems very concerned about it and I dont think it is a big deal. Also FMIL saw our invites last weekend and said she could barely read them...but I thought it was bc she didnt have her glasses on. Meanwhile now that I think about it I dont think she really liked them and thought the font was too light and therefore told FFIL about the light lettering and no tissue. Anyway I just feel very annoyed about this whole thing! I wrote a nice note back saying why we didnt do the tissue....1) have the protective sheer wraps, 2) looked weird 3) asked a few people and they said not necessary bc of the wrap 4) i think they will be fine!

I was told that most modern invites don't even come with tissue or an inner envelope which I hesitated about when I finally decided on mine that did not offer it. We also had raised font and all was fine when they were mailed out.

Was your lettering black?

Tissue paper was too annoying for me, since my invites fold, I did without, and they were fine.

as long as you like it the way it is its fine.
and my lettering was raised and silver.

the tissue is now just a tradition. It was used to protect the ink, but most invites now never smear. I would check with the manufacturer but i'm pretty sure you don't need it

I just texted him...no response yet! I am just annoyed that I didnt get this email a long time ago and I feel like FMIL hates the invites. Actually I think she hates everything unless she picks it! Also FFIL wrote the email out of love for us...but its just too late....email would have been better if it was sent awhile ago!!!!

i just got a wedding invite last weekend - not to be mean but the invitation looked like it was made at home - and i dont mean like DIY - it was NOT like the way us girls DIY things - i hate to say this but it just looked cheapy, which is fine dont get me wrong i dont think invites have to be expensive or look expensive but i was confused because it had raised printing and i thought raised printing was $$ and not something you can do at home and it didnt match the rest of quality of the invite - and then i noticed there was tissue in it! and i was like *** is this for? well now i know why the invite had tissue in it! for the raised lettering i guess! shows how much i know about invites! yeah im an idiot

Ok UPDATE...

Spoke to FH and he doesnt care about the tissue! He said there has been too much thought and too much talking about the invitations, calligraphy, wording, etc and he doesnt want to talk about it anymore! He said its fine as is! LOL!

The whole tissue paper thing was used back in the day when ink would smear on the invites - now it is more tradition. Don't worry about it. Your lettering will be just perfect !

Dont worry about the tissue, you don't need it anymore. My mom has sold invites for 25 years and never had a problem with the raised print rubbing off. Ours are raised (albeit blank ink) and we are not including tissue. I dont even think Encore gave us any?

I also have a copy of a spare invite here and I've been keeping it in the envelope w/ response card, etc. I've probably taken it out of the envelope and put it back in 10+ times and the print is as perfect as wehn we first got it (without any tissue)
