a budget of $30k or less!! Ok, for like, the 3rd time within the past 2 or 3 months, FH and I are seriously considering moving up our wedding date. I think this time is for real. We were thinking September 2004. Is it still doable? Am I too short on time? I know I'd have to start booking things quickly but do you think I can still find a reception site? Am I kidding myself by thinking I can do this for under $30k?? If you're doing it for under $30K -- please share how!!
I was thinking Sept. 5 - the Sunday before Labor Day to try and save some money. I would do a Friday night, but I won't do a Saturday afternoon. Basically we would be scaling back our wedding from about 200 guests to approx 150. I need a site for around $65pp -- I plan on checking out SMCC and Sunset Harbor.... any others? It's not like I'd be starting from scratch. I have a very good idea of what I want already - hell - I've been collecting ideas since we got engaged in Feb! Help! We need to make a decision soon!

Check out Douglaston Manor in Douglaston Queens. They have a really affordable wedding package and the food there is amazing!

I think its definatly doable.
we saved on our hall and applied the extra money to our photo and video
for favors we're not going overboard, making our own programs, and searching ebay for things.

FH and I just moved our wedding from 3-05 to 9-04 as well. I am having a much smaller wedding than yours though, so for me it was not that big of a difference, only in regard to our honeymoon, the price did go up a couple hundred. I think it is defintely doable it you are willing to do a Friday night. I agree with the last post, Douglaston Manor, and maybe you can check out Coral House. GOOD LUCK!!!!

the timing is doable, but the sunday before Labor Day is one of the most requested times, so you may have a problem finding a place that has that date open.

Time-frame wise it is doable....I'm still hoping for a summer 04 wedding...long story...
Perhaps check out Stewart Manor CC, Douglaston Manor, Reception House in Flushing and I'm sure there are many others....

I was engaged in the middle of July and got married the following July, so I think you can definitely plan your wedding for next September. We got married at the Swan Club and the prices were definitely reasonable (under $65pp). We made our own programs and I think spent a total of $28. I also bought my dress on the sample sale rack and saved about $500. Good luck!

send me a FM if you'd like. SMCC is avaiable, september 5, 2004. Ask other sMCC brides, their service is great, and the amount of food for cocktail hour is supposidly great too.
