Need witnesses(Especially SandCastle Witnesses)! Anyone been to a party where they served ice cream cake?
I just told my mother about the whole ice cream cake thing. She told me that the cake would probably melt by the time it reaches the guests. I will be having over 100 people at my e-party...is it possible that all the guests will receive the ice cream cake in good condition, (not melted or soup). I mean how realistic is this. Please let me know, especially if you have eaten an ice-cream cake at the SandCastle.
P.S-I know this sounds like a really weird dilemma, but I don't want my cake to be served as soup to my guests. Thanks for listening.

I don't know about the whole cake being ice cream but I have been to weddings before where the cake comes with ice cream on top of it and it arrived fine.

I assume the catering hall has ways of dealing with ice cream. I've never been served ice cream cake at a catering hall, so when my mom mentioned that it might melt..I freaked out. Thanks for letting me know.

FH wanted ice cream cake for the wedding, but we figured it would be too difficult. I'm hoping to get him one as the grooms cake for the RD.

I went to a wedding where they served a piece of cake and a scoop of ice cream.....it was fabulous! I love ice cream cake!

That's sweet. I have to go leave another deposit at the SandCastle in about 2 weeks, so I'll find out how it would work. It definitely makes things more challenging... for ex., taking pic's would have to be quicker and etc..

You know what's great about the ice cream cake is that even though some people may not like it....during the Vienessian Hour other cakes will be displayed so they can eat those non-ice cream cake.
It seems like ice cream cake is usually a big hit, especially for the kids also.

I used to work at Sandcastle and they keep it in a huge freezer then cut and serve and it is fine. Sometimes they cut beforehand and then put it in freezer on plates and then serve. Nothing to worry about.

Thank-you you a million for calming my nerves. I feel sooooo much better now. I was thinking last night actually that even if I were to ask them, they would obviously say it wouldn't melt...but at least I got your perspective, a former worker....who's witnessed this first hand. I really can't thank-you enough.

No problem. Any questions you have feel free to FM me. I worked there 5 years ago so things might have changed but I personally loved working there. The staff was great. The food is wonderful and we (my sister worked there with me) would love to eat some dessert after the viennese hour
How many people are you having at the party? Are you in the skylight room?

Yes, we are having the CH downstairs and the party in the skylight room. We should be having app.110 people...I just want family or else it will just be too much for an e-party. There food is awesome...I was there for a sweet sixteen and WOW...just thinking of the food is making my mouth water...lol.
At the sweet sixteen, they had a mini viennese, but my FI and I will be having the Full Viennese....on the menu they have listed all these great desserts...Can you give me some info on how it looks...I'm soooo hungry...lol

The full Viennese is HUGE! Probably take 15-20 waiters and waitresses to wheel out all the tables with dessert on it. They have EVERYTHING imaginable that you would want for dessert. They really do an awesome job with it. This is a huge eparty. Where are you having your wedding?

Lol...Well if we're not bankrupt by the time this is over, (j/k), we are considering a few places like Russo's on the Bay, Villa Lombardi's, Floral Terrace, Crest Hollow Country Club. These are a few off the top of my head that I am interested in. I have the Wedding sites and services magazine and that has been extremely helpful. Wow..that Viennese sounds goooooood. I can't wait to have this party so I can post pictures here. They told me the wall in the back of the skylight room comes up, is this true?

I think the wall was built after I left. I have never seen it.
