need your advice ladies...

need your advice ladies...

so chris and i were talking today about the wedding, more specifically about the hm. so we kind of decided to not go on a hm. its just an expense that we cannot afford and would rather wait and go away a month or two after the wedding. its mainly b/c he starts the engineer class in june, and it goes for 15 months. which is a looooong time, and i feel like he needs to focus on that and that we'll still have the wedding on the same day, but put the hm off until september or october. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated..

thanks
sarah

As long as this is something you both agree on I say it's perfectly fine. You'll actually have something to look forward to a few months after the wedding.

That sounds like a good plan. You can just go on a delayed honeymoon that's all. We might actually do something similar. My fiance is in school now to be a radiation therapist and will graduate in may of 06 but still has to finish up his internship, so we might have to wait to go on our honeymoon too.

If that is what you both want then I don't see anything wrong with it. FH and I also may do that. We are thinking of going away in oct or nov and just have a mini hm in June. But we are still unsure.

Sounds like a rational decision - - and you'll probably enjoy the HM more when he has less pressures awaiting him back at work.

definitely, If you both agreed on it and you feel that you will be able to enjoy it at a later time, go for it.

Sounds like a good choice. What about a long weekend in New England or in Manhattan? This way you can have SOME type of private special time together without losing your shirt. Just a suggestion.

We were thinking of doing the same thing since our financial situation is up in the air... We may make it shorter than we origianaly planned, and somehing less expensive.

I know so many people that delay taking their honeymoon because of money, working situations, school, not the right weather in the desired honeymoon destination the time of the wedding.... I don't think it's a big deal at all!! Stay at a nice hotel the night of your wedding, enjoy the night. Maybe take a weekend getaway to a bed and breakfast in New England. Then when it's time for the real honeymoon, you'll get to relieve all of those newly married feelings. Gives you something to look forward to.

Just make sure you book it ahead of time or you may not go. We're going to wait a few weeks for our honeymoon b/c we want to spend xmas at home!

Maybe you cna go somewhere special for the wedding night or the whole weekend

As long as both of you decide that this the best thing, then you will have something to look forward to after all the wedding affairs are over....Make a nice romantic wedding weekend at a hotel & make that a 'mini honeymoon' until you get to take the real one

My girlfriend and her husband got married last August and still have not taken their honeymoon. At the time they just were unable to afford to take one. After they got married they went to the Pocono's for a couple of days and they both were happy with their decision. Do what is right for the both of you.

My cousins didn't go on their HM until almost 4 months later... but it was worth it, cause they had the money to do it then.

The night of the wedding, stay somewhere fabulous! Or even do a weekend of it! Don't go nuts.. but make it your own so you will always remember it!

THen... a few months later.... HONEYMOON time! Think of it as a bonus wedding gift! One you open a little later, like you just found it! It will be like making your wedding last longer...

we decided the same thing. We are going to go away for a few days after the wedding and stay at my mom's house in West Palm beach. But our real honeymoon to italy won't happen for awhile.

I see nothing wrong with...probably because we won't be going on our hm right away either. We're planning on going to Europe and we're getting married in November. Europe has cold winters...theres no point in going there only to not be able to enjoy being out doors...so we're going in May. We'll prob sneek away for 3-4 days in Nov...someplace where we can drive to...undecided about where still...

I am getting married at the end of April but not going on the honeymoon until the June. We were always planning on going to Germany next year (World Cup in Soccer), but I didn't want to get into peak wedding season with those prices!!!

You may be better off waiting, especially if you want to go to Europe- you can get some great airfares to Italy or France (or any place else for that matter) so you can splurge on other things.

In fact, I would do it that way if it wasn't for the World Cup.

Good luck!
