Need Your Help Girls!!! 'Hairy' Situation.....

Original post by gina674

Ok.... I know I'm beginning to get a little freaked out that November is fast approaching, and I'm dealing with vendors that do not return phone calls, but if I'm being a Bridezilla about this next question, please bear with me....

One of my Jr BMs is 15 years old. A couple of months ago, I was at my FSIL's house, and my Jr BM was wearing a Tank top, and I noticed, she has yet to start shaving her under arms.... I thought nothing of at the time... When we ordered the dresses, I noticed it again and yes, it was VERY noticeable.... then I saw her on Father's Day and she was wearing a sleeveless top and yet again it was quite noticeable that she doesn't shave at all......

I'm not trying to be mean or judgemental, but I don't know how to approach this..... I was brought up that it is just routine hygene. It's not something that you can't see though, It is VERY visable, even with her arms down.....

How can something be done being tactful, or if it is a cultural thing, which I'm 99.9% sure it's not, how could this be covered up. The dresses are strapless, the only thing I could think of is a pashima, but she won't be wearing it the whole time.....

I told already but just in case other girls have this problem...
You have to be the sacraficial lamb in this case. I would take her out to the salon and show her you getting your eyebrows or lip waxed and tell her that 'you are so lucky you don't have to get that done yet since you are so young' 'the only place you have to worry about is your pits' Offer to pay for her and hopefully this will work. If not I will hold her down the morning of your wedding and you can just buzz the fuzz

Honestly, unless you are the girls mother, I don't think you are entitled to say anything. You don't know the particulars and you may really offend both the girl and her mother. JMO

I agree.

Is it possible you could speak with her mother with out your Jr.Bridesmaid knowing?

It's such a personal issue..so sorry you have to deal with this

I would speak to the mom

This is what I would do as well. I would tel her mom that you noticed that her daughter does not shave, is their a reason, and if not will she be shaving for the wedding. Let her know that if it is not for a culture reason you feel it will not look right in the pictures if she is hairy.

Good luck - I am sorry, this is a very difficult situation!

Maybe you can offer to pay for underarm waxing for the girls in the bridal party? Or when you give the bridal party their presents you can make them a basket and include things they will use to get ready, a razor....shaving gel....dehordorant any other....under arm products?!?!? Or when everyone is together a couple of days beofre the wedding mention that you haven't shaved in forever...because you want a nice clean shave before the wedding....and that you can't wait to shave because you are so hairy.....HINT HINT HINT!!!!

If thats no good....talk to the girls mom.

Good luck!!!!

Maybe you could say that you found a cute grooming kit for all the girls and you want to make sure she's not allergic to the shave gel??? Sorry that's a tuffy!

Wow, this is a tough one, but I would definitely want her to shave for the wedding- especially if there's an odor.

I would talk to your FH about it first and see what he thinks your FSIL's reaction would be if you talked to her about it. I think you would want to go to the mother first, and FH should have an idea of how to handle it.

Good luck!

Is she related? I would say something to her mother or your mother and ask why she hasn't started-it there a specific reason? If she were family-I would ask her to shave-I'm very blunt and underarm hair on girls really grosses me out. Good luck.

yikes. that's a sensitive topic.

what about a bolero jacket?

This is such a touchy subject...there are people that do not shave I for one I thought is was weird because I was taught this is part of your natural hygene (my mom wanted me to wait as long as I could) but my boss has a friend that is like this and it is a part of her lifestyle & beliefs...so be careful when/if approaching the subject.

Maybe she just doesn't think to do it. Casually bring something up, like the next time you see her say something like...'oooh my armpit is so itchy, I think I forgot to use shave gel when I shaved my armpits this morning.' Then if the tone is right or if she seems giggly ask, 'SO...(name), what kind of shave gel do you use? I remember in high school my friends and I were obssessed with Skintimate Peach scented gel!!....'

Weird situation but it is your wedding day the attention will be on you and your husband, not her armpits!!!
