Need your help, Long Island ladies!

Need your help, Long Island ladies!

Sooo...I had something all planned out for FH's 30th. It required him to take off a day from work - all of this was a surprise - but I just found out that he may be moving into a new position at his company SOON and will have a new boss. I don't want to ruffle any feathers by having him take a vacation day so shortly after this *might* occur.

So, I need a backup plan...his birthday is in the beginning of August and I was thinking of just doing an overnight thing somewhere on the Island. He's into wine, so vineyards might be cool - but I don't know which ones are good!
Someone at work mentioned Port Jeff - how's that town? My coworker said it's a lot of fun, but he's in his 40's with kids, so our ideas of 'fun' might be different.
Help!

I would totally go out east. They even have beer tours I heard!

If he's into wine the wineries are great. Port Jeff is fun if he likes more nightlife. They don't have a ton of nightlife but they have no wineries.

The best wineries I have been to (and I just went on Sunday) were...

Peconic Bay
Palmer
Di Bertileto (sp???)
Clovis Point
Martha Clara is fun (i don't care for their wines) but they always have live music and stuff

You could go out east, wine taste and go to a nice dinner or stay in a b&b.... Claudio's in Greenport is a great restaurant... I think they have a bar too which get's a good crowd in the evenings and it's right on the water...

I love going to Port Jeff for the night and I'm 27!

You can stay at Danfords (literally on the water). Lots of great restaurants. Dessert at the Frigate. Drinking & dancing at Port Jazz.

I've heard the vineyards on the North Fork are terrific.

Port Jeff... I used to go there every summer... I haven't been since I was about 12. From what I recall, there are a lot of little shops & nice places to eat. You can take the ferry over to Fire Island and there's a nice boardwalk to stroll on.

Look into staying at the Jedediah Hawkins House. It's beautiful and has a hotel and restaurant. As for wineries, I like Baiting Hollow Vineyard and Roanoke alot. Tjere are so many other good ones, too. They all have a different charm. And I LOVE The Old Field Vineyard in Southold. You will pull up and think it's going to be awful...but it's so personal and the wine is really good
