I am inviting a friend from college to our wedding. SInce she's not dating anybody, I was going to invite just her. Today, I get an email from her saying that she will probably bring his brother along since he likes to dance and would have a good time. I do know her brother (he came to our engagement party), but he also was not invited to the e-party (it was my friend's guest, i guess)
How should I go about this? Should I ignore her comment for now?
We already have too many ppl on our invite list
I'm inviting a group from college but not from the same 'circle' of friends --- Sigh,

We're not inviting anyone w/ a date unless they are
-Married -engaged -or living together
So that we don't end up w. a 200 person wedding, maybe explain this to your friend

I guess you have to weigh the options. I also am inviting singles buy them selves. If they tell me they want to bring someone I am going to let them. I don't feel that its worth a fight. I have enough stress without that.

unless you really know the guest....i wouldnt invite them....i would just address her on the invitation because remember who is paying for the wedding...
will she know anyone else at the wedding...i actually could understand if she did not know anyone that would be at the wedding...then i probably would let her invite a guest!
the decision is up to you!! i probably didnt help at all....I probably just confused you!!!

Hi. '06 crashing. Will your friend have any friends at the wedding? If not, you should consider letting her bring someone. Imagine being invited to a wedding where you only know the bride and have to spend the whole night with strangers. It's not exactly something that gets you in the partying mood. I had a friend who was just invited to her college roommate's wedding without a guest and she was so upset because she wasn't friends with anyone who would be there. Try talking to her about it.

I'm also not planning on inviting any of my friends with dates unless they are in a serious relationship.
I hate it when people assume they'll be invited/ can bring a guest. Its so uncomfortable.

Mine too. Not inviting other people with a date, that really adds up. but if the person doesnt know ANYONE there except you, I would let her bring her bro.

Ok I have a question, how will you let the singles know you are only expecting them alone on the invite?

I guess writing just their name on the inner (or outer) envelope?
be honest with her-tell her your guest list is maxed out. If she is not dating this guy she shouldn't have a problem-I had a friend who had this problem and she only opened up the guest list to dates when people sent in replies that they couldn't make it to the wedding

Re: Need your honest opinion
How many other people will she know at the wedding? I thought I would do the same thing when I began my guest list and then it occured to me that if I were invited w/o a guest I probably wouldn't want to go to the function unless I would know a lot of other people. I just put myself in their positon and wonder how I would feel.
