I would return the stuff and give approx what they had given you.

Maybe they don't have a lot of $$ (or you don't realize that they don't have a lot of $$) and can't match your generosity.

This obviously bothers you, so from here on out I would give what they gave you so you don't feel slighted.

PS - you are BEYOND generous - no one I know gives that much $$ for engagement/weddings/baby showers!

I totally get what you are saying but the thing is, they are 10x better off financially then we are.....if it was someone who WASNT, I would NEVER go tit for tat at ALL, we are NOT like that ever. But when you walk around talking about how muuch $ you have, how many houses you own, how much you make a month, etc, you should really watch what you say.....

i'm extremely stubborn so i would match. i wouldn't go above and beyond.

i had given a gift 1 time of $150 for something and $50 back for the same thing from someone who is much better off than I. No more!!

yeeaaaahhhhhh......id return some of the stuff...theres only so much u can give and then get stiffed at the end.... Barb is right... PEOPLE ARENT STUPID...they know what they are doing...

Personally, I'd still give whatever I was originally planning to. But that's just me. If you start to get into that tit-for-tat stuff with people, it just always ends up in disaster.

return the gifts...my cousin gave me $50 for him and his wife....

$50 was insulting... didnt even cover 1 meal... yet a few months before for his wife's baby shower... i bought the baby a car seat....

ugh i hate ppl
