need your opinion.. for our ceremony music

I was thinking of getting a duo to play some ceremony music. Everything we like, is more than a duo though. I love pachabel cannon D, and ave maria, I even like that kenny g song, so I just read that our contract with our DJ includes him for free to play our ceremony music, which is recorded, so it woudl sound the same, and IT'S CHEAPER so that helps.. wht do you think

I had the same dilemma. I decided to go with the live music. I got a great price for a string trio ($325) but I have had a few issues with them so far. I am hoping everything is OK for the wedding. I am using Counterpoint BTW, I found them on gigmasters.com.

I think I'm just gonna go with the DJ, but then again our ceremonies at the same location as the reception and it's just easier to have to DJ do it, cuz they'll already be there.

I am using them too. But as a string quartet. ($450- includes travel charge) I got them from a woman on the knot.

I'm having the same dilemma. I'm going to walk to Ave Maria (a family tradition), so I guess I'd have to hire a singer as well, right? But I'm also wondering how it would work for the DJ to set up in the ceremony room and then people would be entering the cocktail hour without any music--he has to play something for the recessional, right? Also, do they just set up with a boom box or something?I just don't want it to look cheap, you know?

I was thinking the same thing... BUT..
at our hall, we have the ceremony in our main dining room, he would already be set up probably, we have a keyboarder for the cocktail hour, that also comes with our DJ. so during the cocktail hour, the set up the dining room, the guests are in a another totally different two room cocktail room. Then back into the Dining room for reception. I think we can get away with just having a dj for that??!!!?? Our hall also, has a piano when you enter the front, so as guests are walking in, we can have the piano playing. I'm thinking it may be a waste to pay for another musician..
