I've been going back and forth with a dress. I havent gotten to try it on, but I have tried on maggie dresses before so I know it will look similar just different beadwork placement. (I am going to try it on prior to purchasing it if i do decide it is actually the one)
Heres the thing. We went to a wedding earlier this year, FH's friends. the bride wore i believe the same dress I'm not 100 percent sure because there are a couple of maggie dresses that look similar so maybe it wasn't. THing is if it was and I do end up getting it is this bad? My wedding will be over a year after theirs and i wouldnt have the cap sleeves like she did plus two different body types so it might look little different regardless. I thought about asking her but then i started thinking what if it is def. the same one and i do get it then it will look like i asked her just to get it and wear the same one.
So what would you do if it does end up being 'the one' yet it was the one she might have had the same one

it will look different on each person... when I went dress shopping the girl that was there at the same time tried on the same dresses as me and they looked so different on each of us - granted that was just trying it on... I think everyone makes their dress their own and its how you wear it what you pair it with (in terms of veil, etc.) I wou;d't worry if it's the same as I'm sure you'll be the only one that would know the difference!

Ok, I know you probably have second thoughts about wearing the same dress as another bride. But, one thing you have to remember is that they sell more than one dress. I agree with ntunison everyone looks different in the same dress. You may dress it up differntly than the next person. Your hair will look different, you might opt for gloves. Bottom line: Don't worry about the next person, just concentrate on yourself. I'm sure you will 'rock it' on your day. And you will look marvelous.

If you are close to this girl I wouldn't get the same dress. I would feel a little funny if someone I knew wore the same dress as me and I would also feel funny wearing the same dress I saw another girl in just a few months earlier. As you said yourself, there are a lot of Maggie dresses that look similar so maybe try and find something similar, but not exactly the same.

i'm not really close with her we've all hung out a couple of times but like i said they are FH's friends. Now i'm not 100percent certain its the same dress plus i've had this one in mind even before their wedding. (we had to push our wedding date back it was supposed to be this sept.) but since we pushed the wedding back i had put off dress shopping until now. i just love this one more than any other.

i would get it, you said the sleeves would be different, and as someone else said the same dress looks different on different people, i had that experience a few times in bridal shops, go try it on if its the one, go for it

Another thing. If this is the dress order it. Alot of dresses get discontinued at any given time. If you really love this dress you don't want that to happen.

my dress is a pick up and believe me when i say alot of girls have that dress- but everyone brings a little something to the dress- i say try it on- decide if its 'the one' and then go from there! good luck!

I don't think its a big deal at all. It will look differnt on you, its a year later so who would even remember? I would get it if you love it.

the dress is going to look different on you than it did on her especially if you are having different sleeves or making it strapless, I wouldn't worry about it. If you were totally over the this dress than its the right one for you.

If you're not that close to her than I'd say get it. If it were a close friend or family member, I could see the conflict, but how many people at this wedding will even realize that it's the same dress, and really, do you care? Go for it!

lol I wish shes like a size zero which i'm sure her dress was a size two. i need a 10-12 in wedding dresses

Definitely get it if you like it...and if you couldnt really tell that it was the same dress, maybe no one else will be able to either.
And like everyone was saying, everyone looks different when you add the hairstyle, jewelry, etc.
If it is the same dress and she comes up to you at the wedding and is like 'oh my god, i think thats the same dress i had!'....just play dumb, pretend like you didnt notice and say 'we must have great taste!'
I absolutely would NOT ask her beforehand, besides the fact that shes not a really close friend so I dont think you really owe her that, you never know if she will act like a crazy b*tch and forbid you from wearing it and be nasty about it.

GET IT!!!!! who care s if she had the same dress. . . . other people have worn your dress before and other people will wear it after you. your wedding dress is for YOU and you alone.... if it's the one, go for it!!!!!!! plus, i doubt she will mind, or even really care... actually, she might even be flattered that you both have the same taste!
