I didn't want to do a big high center piece...so I was trying to come up with some alternatives. I originally wanted to do a low setting with only red roses.
The table linen and chair covers are all white (tuxedo white) so I thought red roses would be classy.
I found these hand made roses (that are actually pens) and thought I could use a dozen of these with white candles as my center piece. (the roses are very pretty). At the end of the night I would have the DJ announce all the guest to take one. I would attach a Thank you note to each rose.
IMHO, I would say that you are better off with real flowers if you want roses. If you don't want flowers, then I would do something totally different. I don't think they will do your table justice.

THANKS alot!!! Your probably right...I'm just so out there on this! Everyone I ask keeps telling me to do the flowers on a stand...which is what I'm trying to stay away from!
I'm glad SOMEONE gave me an opinion! Thanks again!

You can totally stay away from high CPs! You can put all red roses in a revere bowl or a pedestal vase or even stick with the concept in the pic and put roses in a julep cup. You could even do a few cups with candles - Lunatrek just did something like this for her CPs.

I'm thinking along the same lines you are - I want to get low roses (simple and elegant) in a glass bowl. Something like this:
(I haven't gotten any price quotes yet, but I'm hoping it will not be too $$$, however, it will definitely be a lot cheaper than high centerpieces.)
It shouldn't cost you more than $50 for the CPs - roses are available year round but are totally in season when you're getting married.
The rose pens in red actually look really pretty...it's a really cute concept - I don't think it looks cheap or cheesey.

That shade of red in the silver cup looks beautiful! My personal preference would be for real flowers. I wish I had some price quotes for you, but I still have a few more vendors to book before I start on florists. I can't imagine that a few roses in a cup would be more than $50 each...
Do any of you ladies out there have price quotes on low rose centerpieces?
Another option would be to buy roses in bulk and arrange them yourself.
Again, anyone who has researched or done this - please chime in!

The flowerist for the Manor East does a design like that with I think 6 roses in a small vase with marbles inside I think it cost like 15.00 per table. So if u wanted to put more roses I guess u would go up from there

Re: Need your opinions...(PIC ADDED)
I used Bellerose Florist to do my flowers for my February 15th, 2003 wedding. My centerpieces were a dozen red roses in a bubble vase for each table. They were beautiful and only cost me $39.99 per centerpiece. Hope that helps.

isopodi - would you, by any chance, have a picture of your centerpieces?
Thanks!

This sounds a lot like my centerpieces (with the silver cups)! If you look at my review there is a link to pictures.. somewhere in there is a shot of the table where you can see how my florist arranged them. I was THRILLED with my centerpieces, I wanted something unique and I got it!
