Negatives...

Is it important that everyone be able to buy or get their negatives? I feel like it is extortion when companies don't give negatives! Is everyone eventually getting theirs?

My photographer gives them to you once you have selected the pictures for your album and ordered any extra pictures. They obviously do this so that you don't have pictures re-printed somewhere else for much cheaper but it is important to get them just in case you ever lose your pictures in a fire or something. I wouldn't book with a photographer that wouldn’t give me the negatives.

Proline includes the negatives in the contract.

I am getting the negatives and the copyrights to the photos included in the package. I think if I am paying all that money for pictures I should be able to do whatever I want with them. JMO

Yes it is important
otherwise you or your guests may be charged an arm and a leg for reprints
we were very firm on that and ADA is giving them back the day we pick up the album

We did not visit any phtographer that did not give us our negatives. I hate it when they offer them to you at a cost after the fact....hello, I just paid you close to 5 grand, why would I pay you additional monies for my negatives. Imagine was our photographer and we get all negatives and all proofs

Yes, please also ensure that they give you the right to reproduce the work. They will give you the negatives then if you do not have a letter etc to make copies you will have the hardest time.

I did not know that. Thanks! We go to our photographer in a few weeks to finalize the contract and I will make sure that is included.

Without your negatives you cannot get good quality reprints in the future. What if the studio goes out of business or the photographer has a fire? Then you have nothing. I think it is important to be allowed to get your negatives at some point.

Negatives are included in my package. I get them right away....not a year later like some companies.

I used cassarinos and they do give you your negatives. I would highly consider this (if you get to keep your negatives) before booking your vendor.

Same here Imagine gives them to me when they are done with the album. I would be weary if you have to pay for them. I know one photographer who wanted $$$ for them. I thought he was insane. Just another way to make money.
