Negotiating Tactics??
I know this topis has been posted before but I want to make sure we are prepared before we sign in the next few days. Is it normal to ask for upgrades and extras? If so, how much is too much? Is it possible the place won't throw in anything? Thanks all!

Negotiating Tactics??-Don't be afraid to haggle
I got married in June and between my husband and I, I'M THE ONE WITH THE MOUTH. So one of you do the talking and you have to have a lot of confidence, remember these guys are salesmen they know what their doing. I was in the managers office for two hours and I got the ice sculpure I wanted, the valet parking I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. Just remember don't let them see that you can't make up your mind about anything...go in there knowing what you want to pay...oh yea I also go the cordial bar too! Good Luck

Negotiating Tactics??
Definitely negotiate...I am not sure if all places will give in but so far we have lowered my initial quote from the hall, dj, florist and photographer without really any much haggling...kind of just saying this is what I want to pay and meeting somewhere in the middle. My hall gave me such an awesome deal...I am getting everything I wanted for a much lower price than I expected...they kept adding stuff without me saying much. I gues they new it was between them and one other place either that or they are really liked us?? My friend who is a wedding planner told me don't get ripped off. She said that is why she became a wedding planner. She saw what happened when she was getting married and figured she wanted to help girls not get ripped off. So whenever I go to see a vendor that advice sounds in my head.

Negotiating Tactics??
I tried to negotiate...but they said no deal...they will find someone from April-Nov...they only said they could work with me if I picked off season...but then I wouldn't have gotten the same effect on the water and with flowers...etc... I did notice my photographer and DJ both put everything on my contract without me asking (dj actually added things for me!) good luck

Negotiating Tactics??
I negotiated with all of my vendors. But that does not mean that my requests were unresonable or unfair. I took things out of packages, added things, ask for a lower price sometimes. I negotiated to get my gown cheaper if I had my girls order their BM dresses at the same shop. My alterations were lowered because I was already paying for a custom hem. If you see a package that has way too much stuff in it or not enough stuff, tell the vendor. If they do not want to be flexible, keep searching. Here on LI we are very lucky because we have tons of vendors to chose from.

Negotiating Tactics??
We did a little negotiating -- we got valet parking thrown in, I got a little taken off the price of my dress, we altered our photography package a bit and we ended up paying less and they threw in an engagement shoot. It never hurts to ask.

Negotiating Tactics??
Last night was the first time I went looking at Reception Halls. My FH and I both think that there is way to much food, and asked if we can take some out, but since it's a package the manager said no. I know that it's better to have more food and more choices, but it seems like such a waste! I'm going to try other places and see if they would negotiate.Welcome New Vendors
