Yes. I was looking at a band before I went with a DJ and I said I was on a budget and they dropped their price.

I think that you would be able to negotiate with vendors. All of the ones that I have spoken to so far have been willing to work with me...

i went with absolute entertainment and they threw in the guitarist for the CH for free

Definitely....but be sure to do your research into the industry 'standards'...it'll help give you a better idea of what range you are looking at.

one of them was going to charge me a travel fee of 200 (wedding is way out east) and dropped the travel fee when I told her the only thing keeping me from hiring her is travel fee

called me 2 weeks later and proposed a new price.

I also told off a very pricey invitation vendor that they are charging so much, that no average bride with good taste could possibly afford it, but why should we suffer when we have good taste.. she sends me a 20% off coupon. .

*****- or er.. negotiate away! they are all money grubbing greesy vendors, all looking for poor star eyed brides to eat for breakfast...

edit: so wedding stuff is making me cranky...

I'm definitely working on price with numerous vendors. Being that our wedding's only 5 months away and it's a Friday night, it only makes sense for them to come down a bit. Fingers crossed.

Definitely ask about paying cash and saving tax. Some will, some won't, but they won't unless you ask. :)

It's amazing what sort of discounts you can get by asking. Especially if you are willing to pay cash too.
