Nervous

well im really nervous that FHs grandma will pass away on our wedding day. of course i am really sad - she is 90 something years old and in a nursing home and they said that she is dying but they dont know for sure how long it will be.....and i dont want anyone to take this the wrong way about me being selfish, its just that what if she dies on our date? its next week.....imagine if our wedding was the 1 year anniversary of her death? that would be horrible.... and then our anniversary every year will be the day FH's grandma died - how depressing is that! i just really hope nothing happens.......the thought of it is totally stressing me out really bad.....would i have to change everything for my wedding? i cant - i booked all of my favorite vendors for that day i know it sounds really bad but i just want my one year mark to come and be gone.....i was looking foward to our 1 year and now i just want it to be over with!

Is she in the hospital or anything at the moment that you think she will pass away today?

I worry about FH's grandmother making it to the wedding, she is his only living grandparent left and she took care of him alot when he was a kid, and i know he would be crushed, it would mean so much to him if she is there. She is 93 years old but im hoping for the best

Re: Nervous

i have a fear my grandmother will pass like the week of my wedding. i dunno what i would do in that situation. my grandfather (her husband) died 5 days before my big trip to disney last year and i seriously did not know what to do.

the odds of her passing on that specific date are very slim. if it did happen and you had to change the date, you have a whole year to rearrange everything.

Denise I have the same fear about FH's grandmother. She isn't his only living grandparent (his grandfather is alive and kicking) but if his grandmother isn't there he will be completely devistated.

Awe. I'm so sorry that you are thinking about this. it would be terrible if she passed on your day... I'll say a prayer that she gets better and can hold out as long as possible.

Nicole I don't think you are being selfish at all. No one would want their wedding to be the anniversary of a loved ones death. You have to look at this way -- if god forbid it is the case I am sure she would still want you and your FH to go on with your lives and be happy. Your wedding date would be an anniversary of two lives (hers and the one you and FH start together).

well last week they said it could be any day....and they have hospice coming every day now.....so if she died on december 5th which is in like 9 days than it would be the same date as our wedding next year......it makes me sad......FH says we are not cancelling the wedding if it happens.....but i just dont feel comfortable about it.......i dont want our anniversary to be the same day his grandma died......and what if people are sad on our wedding day.....its just making me nervous

Well hoping your fh's grandmother makes it

Its weird bc all 3 of fh's grandparents who passed away, all passed away in the month of june(different years) so fh said this year if she gets past june then its ok, so he is feeling confident. And she seems to be doing great lately...fh was coming home from work one day and he saw his grandmother with his aunt and uncle on the street and they had taken her to the salon bc she requested a mani and pedi lol. The funniest thing is that she still gives FH $5 EVERY single time she see's him.

Re: Nervous

My grandma passed on FH's birthday last year - it was terrible THAT year . . .my parents waited until we ate and had cake to tell us that she had passed ( she was in the hospital )

But in the years following, no one wanted to make FH feel bad about his birthday so after we go to the cemetary in the morning we just turn the day over to him and celebrate his birthday - it is tough but it makes us all feel better and we cant mope around for the day

Also, I am sadder on her birthday for some reason. I guess because that was the day we celebrated her for my entire life and Oct 6th has only been important for the past two years!

Try to stay positive...also tell fh to go visit her, its having loved ones around that helps out and gives a person more strength

I hope it doesn't happen on your date. You're not being selfish. The waiting is definitely the worst part

Ok this is going to sound a little strange and maybe morbid but -- they know. And what I mean is those who are dying and in that situation know -- they know when their day is coming. My grandfather told his wife how many days he had left and died exactly when he said he would.

He waited until everyone went and saw him and then he went.

So my point is -- she knows. And I am sure she will let herself go before then or hold out at least one extra day!
