I am so nervous about calling the church. I want to have my wedding in March. We really just started planning. I know it is really short notice but we already live together and I am not having that big of a guest list 70-80 people. I really have to get cracking...........

Re: Nervous about calling church
I hated calling churches- I made FH do it. ( ok, he volunteered when he saw how intimidated I was)

Re: Nervous about calling church
Don't worry!! I actually hate picking up the phone to call any of the vendors (I always feel like a jerk) but know what you mean, the church is a little intimidating ...
I'm wimpy so my FH called .. but then again, it is his church we are being married in.. we are having a short engagement so its the FIRST thing we did . If you are looking for a March date, do it today!
PS: We live together also, and believe me they are NOT judgemental..

If i were you i would start calling the church asap, it takes my priest days to return my phone calls and i know my friends have had te same experiences with there churches. So try not to wait to long.

Re: Nervous about calling church
I would call ASAP...also, are you getting married in the Catholic Church? Our engagement was a quick one (5 months) and the Catholic church gave me a hard time about the time frame, saying they needed to give the diocese at least six months notice, unless we had extenuating circumstances. I finally found a church that would work with us, but it wasn't my own.
Good luck!! Oh, and I've had the same problems with the Deacons not calling me back...

Re: Nervous about calling church
The ones we called weren't too nosy, but mine was booked & others wouldn't take outsiders or wouldn't call back.
The living together thing won't come up till you have to fill out paperwork & they ask addreses. I don't know if all preists feel the same about this. We don't live toghether, so it wasn't an issue.
A 6 month wait is standard for Catholic & Episcopal churches.
There are always people who like to break the rules though . . .
