No, this is not the name of an ousted Yule Lad......I'm looking for something for my laptop that will sniff for wireless networks.
Anybody know of a program that I can download?

Thanks!

DO you have a wireless network? Through network connections->Wireless...it should be able to detect other peoples wireless networks if you are near enough to any. WHy are you trying to do this?

One of the conference rooms at work has a wireless network. My laptop doesn't have the ability to detect it (or any wireless network). You have to tell it the name of the network for it to see it. But there are programs that sniff out networks and connect you automatically (I think).

Ok...humm. Well Microsoft's Connection Utility will automatically detect any wireless network that is broadcasting it's name...It sounds like your work isn't. WHat it seems like you need is a wireless packet sniffer or as they are usually referred to as a stumbler. Take a look at either NetStumbler or Stumbler. Good luck!

LOL... if they went through the trouble to prevent it from broadcasting its SSID.... I am sure its probably encrypted and the only way you are getting on is to crack the key.

If they use 128bit encryption.... lol good luck trying.
