You may want to look at the River Cafe in Brooklyn Heights. It is an amazing restaurant, right under the Brooklyn Bridge with postcard-perfect Manahttan views. Its very $$$$ but if you keep it small it could not break the bank.

Hi there!
Well looking at what you wrote, you're looking for a true NYC experience.
BUT I will say it might be hard coordinating something at a city tourist site like the Empire State Building... esp. at Christmas time. The city is just CrAzY during that time of year.

I think I have the perfect place for you... Guastavino's. It's a terrific restaurant in midtown that is an AMAZING space- and the atmosphere is incredible. It's actually BUILT right into the 59th Street bridge (the bridge where Spiderman saves the tram in the end of Spiderman 1)
DEFINITELY check out their website www.guastavinos.com
I think this place should have all the elements you are looking for.
Best of luck to you!!!!

You can totally get married at those places, but I agree with Cherylbooch- it will be crazy during Christmas time. Another option is a restuarant across from Gaustavino's called Bouterin. The food is fanatastic- its about $75/per person and its beautiful- decorated with lots of flowers. We were going to get married there, but we had too many people for it to be comfortable.

People do get married at Niagra Falls- but that is far from new York City- about a 10 hour drive and a 2 hour flight. I don't know anything about that.

Here's another idea- although I don't know how it would play out in Christmas time- get married in Central Park- what could be more NY? With 20 people or so, you won't need a permit. Then you can go to a restaurant to celebrate.

You can also get married in a hotel. If you just do the ceremony there, the fee may be minimal.

I will ask my sister tommorrow when I see her. She was an event planner in NYC and knows tons of places, prices, etc. I will FM tommorrow with info.
Also please stop with all caps- its really hard on the eyes- thanks!

Re: NEVER BEEN TO NEW YORK

Sorry about the CAPS.... Anyway, I have been getting alot of stuff in the mail from NY. It has been very helpful, (all the replies, e-mail, and mail). I still haven't decided what to do. I do know that my family and friends are starting to get very excited about NY. This is the plan...... well my best friend and I were talking about it.......

We arrive on Thursday Dec. 2nd, we go to the courthouse, get a license and go shopping and maybe catch a nice dinner..... Then instead of getting married on Sat. we get married Friday night. So we all get up in the morning and my best friend and I go to a spa(anyone know a place like this??? facials, nails, and hair??)and do girl stuff, while my fiance' and his brother go shopping or whatever.... anyway we meet that night for the wedding, (where i don't know) We then go out to eat somewhere nice and go to a nice dance club (we all love to go out, and haven't in a while, salsa, or whatever). On Saturday my new husband and I go and do our own thing while everyone else, gets to go sightseeing or X-mas shopping. And we all go home back to Texas on Sunday........

What do yall think?? Can we pull this off??

Re: NEVER BEEN TO NEW YORK

I think you can absolutely pull that off. It may be a little hectic, but you can definitely do it! You need to figure out who will marry you and where you will get married. The justices of the peace will not marry you outside business hours (to my knowledge).

As for Spas- there are so many in New york. go to www.citysearch.com - New York and look up spas. You can also check out www.newyorkmag.com and www.timeoutnewyork.com . Some of the most popular are Bliss, Red Door, Exhale, Georgette Klinger... there are so many..
