Never wanting to leave wedding Reception, any suggestions

Our wedding is on a Sunday night and i wanted to do something speacial for our guest to allow them to have a great time so they will not want to cut out early. Has anyone been to a wedding where there was something special or etxra that added to the wedding? I'm prob getting a sports mascot to come but that will be in the middle and prob for 1 hour. Thanks for tips

the only think I can think of is really good music. That is what makes the wedding. I'm having a sunday night wedding as well and wonder the same thing. I just hope the band keeps them dancing and they don't look at their watches

The promise of Viennesse hour at the end will probably get people to stay. Who can resist dessert?

Keep them on the dancefloor and they wont want to leave! Or Vienesse hour...desert is very hard to say no to!

honestly, there will still be people who cut out early no matter what... esp OOT guests who dont take the next day off!

sundays are hard... but i like the idea of a really good vienesse hour!!! you can even print that on the menu like 'dont miss the vienesse hour happening right after the Bok toss' or something like that

and good music ALWAYS helps!!

Same here... That was my biggest concern with sunday weddings-- however the truth is that regardless of the day if people are having fun they will stay and if they are not then whether it is a sunday, fri or saturday, will leave early anyway (for the most part-- you always have those really anal types that wont allow themselves fun bc they have to work the next day and must be in bed by a certain time-- y ou dont want them there anyway!) =)

So.. to that end.. imo the most important element to a great party is great music!.

Just saw a thread about hiring a bellydancer you can save that for the end-- but it seems like providing incentive for people to stay sort of misses the point-- you want people to be there not bc they are waiting for some surprise at the end but bc they are having a great time

we had a VH and put it on our menus so ppl knew it was coming but a lot of people left when it was over - which was fine b/c at that point there was only about 30 mins left

I agree with everyone above

it's hard to control ppl...I attended a Sunday AFTERNOON wedding where ppl were leaving at 5--why???? who knows, it's not late ya know?

I have never been to a wedding where people left earlier than expected. I would really think that everyone is there because they want to be there, and having good music is really all you need. How about hiring a bellydancer? That's something that most guests really enjoy.

ETA: I am really shocked that you girls have seen people leaving early. I am used to seeing everyone staying till the end...you basically have to tell them to leave

People leave early regardless of a Sat, Fri, or Sunday wedding. Your close family and friends will stay through the end. I have family that always leave early(even though we have VH/great music) and it gets on our nerves but you know what It's their loss.

ive always seen some ppl leave early. Depends on the situation, some might have to wake up very early the next day and sometimes they also live far. Some ppl have kids and the babysitter might only be able to stay until a certain time, theres many different scenarios.

I think a VH is probably your best best.

I am having a Sunday wedding as well and I actually told FH the other day that we shouldn't have gotten the VH b/c it will be a waste of money due to the fact that I know people are going to be cutting out early to get up for work the next day.

I've been thinking the same thing...how can I get people to stay? I was thinking of writing something in the invitation to plan for a late reception. In other words, take the day off and book a hotel!!!!!!

Maybe you can have your MC announce that you have to stay till the end of the night to receive your favor!

I was just going to say this, even with viennese hour the people who want to leave early will. Don't worry about them! The people that you want there most WILL be there until the end. I had a sunDAY wedding and we had some people leave before dinner was even served.

wow i can;t believe people left before dinner was served. I guess it is what it is. Our receptiion is over at 12 and a lot of our guest are from nj and ct so i think they will leave early and i know there is no way to move it up. We are only having around 100 people so i feel it will be noticeable if they leave, it;s mostly family.

I feel like that would be enticing to some but it might end up being a waste of money because people are planning on leaving early anyway. I agree with the idea of good music!
