Not at all... Although if I was going to give a donation in their names, I would make sure that is a charity that they wish to support. They may feel strongly about something else.

I think it is a nice gesture-- but on the other hand- you are giving a gift to people to help them start their lives.. What if it was more of like an 75/25 split?

I know that everyone I know is giving money to help the relief effort.. It is a personal decision though, and I think you should give what you feel appropriate to your friends.

That's a tough one.

I would be a little insulted. It's as though they feel that they know where the money should go better than the couple. Making a charitable donation is a personal choice.

On the other hand, though, I guess we shouldn't be expecting gifts and should appreciate what we have and that people are there to celebrate with us. This is probably how my DH would feel.
