I don't think you are being ridiculous at all, I would be a hurt and sad too. Have you discussed your feelings with your friend? Maybe there is a reason why she decided to still pick her, even though they have not been speaking for some time.

I'm really sorry this is happening. It seems your friend is pegging her to be the godmother because she knew her longer, but personally, I don't care how long I've known someone, if they are not a part of my life, I can't expect them to be around for my kid then I wouldn't give them the honor of naming them godmother. To some people, this really means nothing to them, but it's something important in my family so I take it very seriously.

At least you can always be there for the baby, just because you're not the godmother doesn't mean that you can't be there or love her just as much.

I do agree with MissingtheB & say that to some people being a Godmother is just a name, but to me it's a VERY big deal..

It's a shame and something that your friend will completely regret - naming the other friend Godmother...but you can just take solace in the fact that you are the better person & will be there for the baby regardless of title (which to me says an immense amount about your character).

I do not think you are being ridiculous at all. I would be hurt too. Sometimes people do not want to hurt one person or the other and its a hard choice. But in your case I can see why you should be the godmother!
