New And Confused

Hi Everyone! I recently got engaged and I am actually an older bride (I am 45). Didn't ever think I would ever meet anyone and get married and here I am today lol.

We put getting engaged off for a while because my mom passed away a few months after a long illness. I finally feel a little better and now that he has proposed, we need to seriously start planning.

What's causing me the most stress is getting a venue. We are keeping it small. Max of 120 guests and we really can't afford to spend $200 per person. I was looking at spend $150 max including tax and tip.

The places I really seem to like are Watermill, Lombardis On The Bay, Jericho Terrace, Westbury Manor and Villa Lombardi.

I know we will get married sometime Summer of Fall 2016. Most likely on a Sunday night. I know Saturdays are very expensive so I am not even thinking of that. I would even be open to getting married in November of December if those dates are cheaper.

Can anyone send me some quotes? I am pretty much open to anywhere on Long Island. I don't even know if my budget is enough. We can spend about $15,000 for the reception.

Thank you everyone!!!

I know you're thinking bigger venues but I would really look at The Riviera in Massapequa if you are having a smaller wedding. It was so beautiful, I thought. And very affordable. Perfect for a smaller scale wedding.

I'm sorry for your loss. Congratulations on your engagement. I would go to a bridal expo. It's a great way to get prices for various venues in one swoop. There are some locations that do the entire wedding for $10k (includes everything).

Check out the coral house. I don't have an actual quote but I recently went to a wedding there and it was nice. For a Saturday night in June the bride had said it was under $120/pp last summer

Congrats!! And I am sorry for your loss :(

I second the Riviera and Coral House, as mentioned above. I got a quote of $78 per person plus tax, plus gratuity for a Friday night in May. Riviera, I've heard is very good in the winter.

Also, Fox Hollow has a smaller room called the Winter Garden Pavilion. I received a quote of $101 plus tax for a Friday in January February or March. $117 plus tax for a Friday in April.

I wish you the best of luck and congrats again!!!

So sorry for the loss of your mom! I'll send you my quotes that I have for Summer/Fall 2016. Winter dates will be cheaper, so keep that in mind and also, my quotes are a year old so most are probably $5-10pp more now. With your $15000 budget, 120 people, you want to keep it under $125pp including taxes and fees.

Definitely check out the Winter Garden Room at Fox Hollow. Perfect for a smaller wedding =)

Hope this helps! =)

I am also an older bride same situation - never thought or even wanted to be married ..... now look. Riviera had great pricing and nice for your size and budget, mansion at west Sayville is perfect and the pricing I believe was 100 a person for sunday night all in. if I didn't have a huge family I would consider it. Did you try Giorgios? amazing there!!! Its in your price range. many places are in your price range! if you want water I have quotes for bridgeview & venetian. Timber point is really nice! they have a beautiful covered patio and they are open to any menu you want even If you give them receipes! They are in your price range!

New And Confused

I second West Sayville & Timber Point! I can give you quotes for both if you still need. I agree Riviera is more flexible on pricing since they are not a corporation like lessings they are able to throw things in. I actually did book Riviera and since we were going to pay cash they weren't even going to charge us tax. They were throwing a lot of extras in too. That being said after we gave a large cash deposit they called us the next day and told us they had mistakenly double booked us. Which I know does happen and I thank god that we found out the next day so no planning was done. Just be careful with the private smaller venues that seem too good to be true. In total I looked at about 8 venues and I found the corporate, more well known ones to be much more professional and organized. Also if you are open to a day wedding you could get more flexible pricing as well. Good luck to you and congrats!
