Hey girls I am new here...My name is lisa...just got engaged 2 weeks ago.
I have nothing planned yet...How do i even get started? I heard going to the different trunk shows for dresses, or show cases for vendors works. Is that true?

i think most girls on here (including me) booked the reception hall/ church first. i would say first thing to do would figure out a basic guest list so you can have an idea of how many people and then start looking at places the fit that number and your budget. then make some phone calls and visit them to pick the right one!

hey!!!!! congratulations and welcome!! I really feel that you should start looking into a Reception Hall. Some brides are booking for 2011!!!

We are looking at Jericho Terrace, Floral Terrace, and New Hyde Park Inn.
I did hear there is a show case at JT tomorrow. My friend told me there is a bunch of vendors...Like Limos, Tuxedos, DJ;s.
My friend got married last year and had Royalty Limos...I heard they are good, but I also heard horror stories. I hear sir oliver is good. I heard that Royalty has a tux place within its office...is that true?
I heard flowers by michele, pedestals, burtons are all good.
Dj's I heard were tommy tunes, Starlight Express, Satisfaction Guranteed are all good.
Dresses I heard Bridal Reflections was ok..but snotty....? Renatas in lindenhurst. davids bridal?
As you can see, I have tons of questions

I've been to parties at JT and they have all been great... The first thing I booked was rh and church, everything else falls into place but def start looking, 2010 seems to be booking fast

I was coming to a close decision to book with JT!!! it's soo pretty the penthouse room is gorgeous!!! but there was 1 RH to visit and as soon i as walked in there i was sold so i changed my mind but JT is gorgeous congrats!!!

I would go book the RH. I just got engaged a week ago and I am going Thursday to possibly book for March 2010. Also the church practically at the same time.
Your choices are good except NHP INN. I have not heard any good reviews on there food, so you might want to be careful about that

first i would get a rough guest list together, you'll need to knwo this when you book a RH, especially if they have more than one room. Also have a few dates in mind. Start researching the halls and set up some appointments(make sure you know what you def want out of your hall). i would book that first since thats a biggie.
after the hall figure out what vendors are most important to you and do some research on some. i did photography then dj then florist. next is limos

congrats! this site has a lot of helpful information.
haven't been to anything at JT or the INN at NHP - my best friend is getting married at Floral Terrace in April 2010. She's getting a lot of extras added thrown in and a 10 day honeymoon in Greece. It might be worth it to check out.

my friend told me to see starlight tomorrow at the JT showcase...anyone going? I heard AMAZIng things about them and went on their website and read, and listened, and they seem to be awesome. I cant wait to go to that showcase. I heard there will be lots of vendors.
