New bride here and anxiety is setting in...

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the board and 146 days from my wedding. I am also in the process of changing jobs and still have lots to get done!

We still have not signed a contract with the florist, but are pretty sure we are going with James Anthony. I also need to finalize the guest list and order the invitations...and SO much more.

As of now, we've secured the church (Church of St. Clare, SI), venue (Russo's on the Bay), photographer (Infinity), videographer (V.I.P.), printer/calligrapher (Consolidated Printing), dj (Classie Sounds), limos (Designer), seating board (Fairy Tale Affairs), bridesmaid jewelry (d.monaco designs), gown (Maggie Sottero), bridesmaid dresses (Watters & Watters), but still have so much more to do.

Anyone have any advice for me on how to keep things under control while I'm going through the job change? Should I hire a wedding planner? If so, any good recs? Also, any feedback on my already selected vendors would be very helpful, too!

Thank you!

A wedding planner would help, but I think you're in really good shape! I know it's really stressful when you look at the big loooooong list of things you still need to do, but I bet you could do it with the expense of a wedding planner. But there are tons of great ones on here, I've heard lots of raves for Chrissy from Fairytale Events!

I found out a few months ago I was losing my job so I know the feeling. I didnt hire a wedding planner. I was my own wedding planner. Basically, I set deadlines for each month of things that we had to do and I kept to that. It worked out perfectly for us and we really stayed on schedule with everything so we woudnt stress.

Thank you so much!

And the other poster had really good advice, try to work on ONE thing at a time. That was really hard for me, I had like 10 DIY projects going at once. By the end I had to say 'okay, today is nothing but aisle runner' or whatever it was. That helped make my head spin slightly less.

I got married 9 months after I got engaged, and booked everything 3-6 months before...you can do it!

Esp. since you are changing jobs, I wouldn't waste the money on a wedding planner. A lot of girls on here can give you suggestions for a lady who does awesome invitations. I didn't use her, but looking at theirs, sometimes I wish I had. I ordered mine online. A lot of companies will send you samples in the mail fairly quickly. My advice to you about the invites is to get them out a little earlier than suggested, if you are having a larger wedding. If you are getting married at Russo's, I'm assuming is might be on the larger side...

I invited 406 and had 280 come. I sent them out March 21, and had a response date of April 21. My wedding was May 1 and about 90 people responded after the response date. Because it was so big, if I would have sent them out later, seating would have been a crunch time nightmare!!

Also, all your final payments are due in cash the week before your wedding for many places, so make sure you go to the bank!

Hope this helps, and congrats!

Welcome and congrats!! I completely agree with everything the other girls said already. You can definitely do it! I only had 8 months from engagement until my wedding. You still have about 5 months and a lot of things already done!! You are in great shape. Try to just take things one at a time, and when you are feeling overwhelmed just come on here and vent....we are all pretty good listeners and love to offer advice!

Welcome and congrats. Wow, it seems you already got a lot of things done. You probably don't need a wedding planner since you already booked the main vendors, but maybe a day of coordinator would help. Chrissy from Fairy Tales Events is awesome.

Good luck with everything.
