I already have my dress -- a reem acra sample. It is beautiful -- all of her gowns are lovely. It is a strapless ballgown. The problem is that I bought it because my mom loved it -- not because I thought it was the one. I have medical problems that have caused me to gain over 50 pounds in one year and I think I need to find a dress that is more flattering to someone with a weight issue. So I have two questions. What do I tell my mom ? She cried when she saw me in the gown. Is it too late to order another gown? I called Bridal Suite of Bay Shore today but they were so busy that they encouraged me to come in during the week. Any advice you can give is appreciated. I couldn't sleep last night thinking I was going to look like a cow on my wedding day. (I don't have pics of me in the dress)

Re: new dress -- need advice
hmmmmmm...this is a tough one...did you really order a dress your mom liked and not one that you loved? You NEED to LOVE your wedding dress...you want to feel you best in it. If you don't love it...then yes...you probably need to get something that you feel good in.
I have no clue how you are going to tell your mom...its hard for me to understand how you can order a dress you don't love...I imagine it will be harder for mom to understand. The good news...you have plenty of time to order a new one...I would just get on it asap.
I hope you don't take my response as being harsh...I tend to be bruitally honest....sorry...
Do you have a pic of your current dress? When was the last time you tried it on? Maybe if you tried it on again...you'll feel differently?
Good luck...keep us posted. ..and don't stress...it will all work out.

Ditto on needing to get a dress you love. I would recommend getting an A-line style dress since you only have to worry about your getting the fit right on your boobs and will be looser on the hips and waist
AS for telling your mom...its your day and the dress didn't make you happy. I am sure she will understand

how did I order a dress I wasn't in love with? She cried and I didn't want to tell her the search was not over. I know-- very stupid. I honestly thought I would love it more as time went on.
An A-line dress is a good idea. I hate to admit this but my waist is now 37 inches. People ask me all the time if I'm pregnant because I was always very skinny (119 pounds when I met FH) and now I have this protruding stomach. It looks bad -- our xmas pics were the real wake up call. ugh

Re: new dress -- need advice
im sorry to hear you are having some medical issues
i agree if you do Not LOVE your dress i would look into getting a new one. It may hurt your moms feelings but im sure if you sit her down and explain your concerns and how upset you are im sure she would understand every mom wants their 'baby' to be happy and feel beautiful on their wedding day! try not to worry and talk to her. we always expect the worst and its usually not so bad
