Hello fellow brides! I've been following the chats on this site for some time now, but I just registered. You guys are great & have so many helpful ideas! I don't have a wedding date set yet, but I want to do it either Dec 2009 or January 2010. I'm still scoping out halls & everyting is just so expensive (we're on a very small budget since we have to pay for everything ourselves)! The wedding either has to be in Northern NJ, the Bronx or lower Westchester to make it convient for most of the guests. Any ideas in those areas for an affordable or all-inclusive wedding hall? My guest list is probably around 100 & I'd like a 75 or lower minimum. Any helful hints when negotiating with these halls? TIA Areti

Re: New Greek Bride
Congrats and welcome!!
Sorry I can't help with any RH's in that area...but as for negotiating...I am very firm and tell them what I am looking to spend, and if they can't work with that amount I will need to look elsewhere. I am a little too 'hard core' as FH would put it.
Good luck!

Re: New Greek Bride
Welcome and Congrats!!! I am not sure if these places are inclusive but you can check out Villa Barone, Verdi's of Whitestone, and the Surf Club which are in the Bronx and Westchester. Good luck and happy planning!

Any place on Davenport Road where the Surf club is happens to be nice, as well as Marina Del Ray, and Douglaston Manor...

Re: New Greek Bride
Girls thanks so much for the warm welcome & your help. I will check out the places you recommended & hopefully something will work out. I went to an Italian wedding at Villa Barone 2 years ago & it was really nice. I need to set up some appointments so I can get started. You see my FH is from Greece OTB (off the boat) lol & all the planning is up to me. He actually lives there & we have a LDR. I joke & tell him just make sure you show up to the church!! Hopefully we'll get some good deals since we've waited till the 11th hour to book anything.
At least I ordered my dress so I have it. It's a Sophia Tolli - Kate. I love the dress & she's a Greek designer too - talk about Greek pride. LOL I don't know if any of you girls have tried on her dresses, but honestly for the price the dresses are gorgeous & their quality is outstanding.
Let me know what you think. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of me in the dress.
