Recently engaged after MANY years together and we need to start planning! We're pretty set on a destination wedding and have a few areas in mind, but I wanted to know if any of you have been to a destination wedding and if so:
-where was it?
-what did you like/dislike?
-how many guests attended?
-any other advice?

Hi!! Congrats and welcome!!

I went to a destination wedding att he end of Jily. I was in Cancun at the Moon palace Resort.
I liked the resort and the fact that the bride and groom had planned out the weekend with activities. The food was great and they got married at a gazebo on the beach. The view was beautiful. Also, the services at the resort was wonderful.
I did not like the price ($2200 for FH and myself). Also it was incrediby hot the day of the wedding and the reception was outdoors right by the beach. There was no tent, so all the guests left the reception area and ate and drank in the gazebo, which was several feet away!!

There were about 40-45 guests.

I've been to 3.

One is Hawaii, it was on one of the military bases, another one at an all inclusive in Mexico, Playa del Carmen and the best one was in St. John's , USVI. They rented out a private villa overlooking one of the beautiful bays, that is where the ceremony was held then we all went to the Westin hotel's restuarant. I have to tell you it was the best wedding I ever went to!
