New Here!!

I'm newly engaged and thought I'd quickly say hi! My DBF is from Long Island and I am from NJ. We live in Hoboken, NJ.

We have two ideas for a wedding, the first at one of the wineries in Long Island in November of 2008. The second idea is to have a wedding in and near Hoboken, NJ. If anyone has had or is having a Winery wedding please post your pros/cons of it.

I'm sure I'll have many questions, but for now just came to say hi!

Take care!

Hi, congratulations first of all.
Second, I live in Hoboken. Where do you live?
We looked at Liberty House and it was on the top of our list. I am from Long Island and FH is from parsipanny, nj. I decided I wanted a wedding closer to where I was from. The wineries are amazing and another great choice. Which winery are you looking at?

Re: New Here!!

Hi Neighbor! We live on 3rd & Adams.

I am not sure about the wineries. Of course I threw it out there so now he's all excited about checking it out. But I think the site fees, the renting of everything is all going to be over our budget. And our list so far is 250, most of the wineries hold a lot less. And time is ticking to plan a 2008 wedding there.

I have a list of NJ venues. The Liberty House being one of them at the top of my list too! I am thinking maybe January - March 2009 in hopes to save money. Did you get any prices from them?

Also, Westmount Country Club, Crystal Palace, Nanina's in the Park and maybe a few others along those lines.

Where are you getting married??

Re: New Here!!

Hi Neighbor. We live on 14thstreet, the Soveriegn Building.

We are getting married at Chateau La Mer. We looked into the wineries as well. My mom is friendly with two of the wineries and getting a tent, renting everything, etc. added up and it went way over our budget. We also wanted to have a nice Honeymoon, so that idea went out the window.

Liberty House is so pretty, but I didn't like the drive through Jersey City. Once you get to the Liberty House it is fine. The downstairs room is basically like a tent and it is off the restaurant, so I didn't feel like it was private enough. The upstairs room was great. The views of Manhattan were awesome and the fact that the whole room was hardwood floors and no tacky carpet impressed me. We really wanted May, but would have gone to April, but the price still wasn't what we really wanted to spend. with the basic package, tax & gratuity it was around $200 per person. Friday night was $185. I believe it is cheaper in the winter, but I am not sure.
