New Here....... and Quick Question!

Hi Ladies! This is my first post but I've been lurking for a little while.

My names Jacquie and I'm getting married July 2nd, 2011. I'm a friend of Lauras (Burhart1111)

So my question is, I'm meeting with my photographer next week for our engagement photos and I don't know what you're supposed to tip. I'm clueless when it comes to this. She's also the photographer for the wedding so I don't want to give a first bad impression.

Next question.

Does everyone you invite to the wedding have to get a STD? What about people you're not sure about right now? Just not send them? I feel like it's awkward. lol. How do you decide who gets them?

I don't know about photog tips because I haven't taken mine yet. Very curious to know the answer, though!!!

As far as STD's...I don't think everyone needs to get them. We are planning to send to family members and close close friends. No coworkers or any of that.

For the STD we are not sending one to everyone we plan to invite. Since most of the intown people know the date. Plus if we need to lower the amount of people we invite if you do not send an STD you do not techincally have to invite them.

As far as the tipping question, i have no clue lol thats actually a great question since Im taking mine next week!

for the STD question Im probably going to send one to everyone on our guestlist. The people im not sure about wont get one unless they know the people I am sending ones to lol hope that makes sense.

I haven't taken e-pics, so I'm no help there. But as far as the STD is it absolutely ok not to send them to people who you aren't sure of.

If the e-pics are in studio I would think 25-30 is good.. if the photographer takes you somewhere to get them done (beach, nyc, etc.) I would go a little higher.. maybe 50-60.. just my opinion

I am only going to mail STDs to ppl who are def invited to the wedding.. u never know if you have to cut your guest list and also you can be working somewhere new or lose touch with someone n if they receive a STD u are still obligated to invite them..

As for the STD's....I'm only sending them to my out-of-town invites. Most of the locals know already...so I'm only sending to those that might not know yet. That way, there is always wiggle room later on if I want to invite more people (or less haha) And honestly, the ONLY reason I'm sending them at all is because I have unique date that happens to fall on a hoiliday next year.

Havn't shot my epics yet, but I'm SOOO excited to! Give some of the girls until tomorrow to see your post and I'm sure some of the girls who have taken them recently will have some insight.

I agree about the tip, depends on where you are taking them! Who is your photographer??

STD's...send them to people that you know for sure that you are inviting. I'm sure you'll have more left over to hand out as time goes on.

as for your questions....

Our Epics were taken in Studio ( PATKEN <3) and we tipped our photog 20 bucks... she didnt want to take it but we made her anyway just because... it is totally up to you how much you want to give them... i dont think it is necessary but its a nice thing to do...

As for the STDs we sent them to our close friends and family that we know for a fact are invited to the wedding, Even though everyone knew the date we still wanted to send them out so everyone knew exactly when it was..

As for tipping Id say between 20-50 is ok depending on where it is.

And def dont send STDs to everyone. Leave coworkers and b list people off. Those always change. We're planning on sending them to close family and friends especially OOTers

Any other ladies have any insight for my friend here?

I sent out STD's to people I knew i was inviting for sure (family and close friends). Others such as co workers or not so close friends, I didn't send to just in case i decide not to invite them to the wedding.

As for tipping, I have not done mine, but im am looking to give about 40.00. It won't be in studio. If he completely blows me away, I will up it to $50 or $60.00

Welcome Date Twin .. I sent out engagement announcements / STD''s because we didn't do an engagement party. but i sent them to everyone that my mom and FMIL put on the list.... if your unsure about someone i wouldn't send them thou. b/c then they might be waiting for an invite.

im not giving people from work a STD because Im not sure how many or which one's im inviting. I see them everyday so I'm sure they know when my wedding is

With STD's I sent out a lot, but only people I was definite about. I wrote out all of my work STD's but decided not to send them, because I didn't want to be obligated if I left the job or got fired, or if anything changed.. They all know the date anyway and some of my closer co-workers agreed it was the smart thing to do.. My best advice is to send it to those who are definitely going to be invited and leave off the rest.. Even if you have a circle of friends and you're not sure who of them will be invited, don't send STD's to any of them to avoid any awkward situations
