new here, enagement party questions

Hey everyone!!

I just got engaged (YAY!!) and just booked a hall for my engagement party for Nov. 30th. I am wondering what I have to do first...yes the party is barely two months away (fiance wanted to have to party around thanksgiving...) and I dont know where to start. FMIL wants to make the invitations for us, so thats out of the way, but what else do you get done first, food, dj, centerpieces?
Also do we have to book a church and reception hall before the party to hand out save the dates?
I'm so confused, HELP!!!!

You dont need to do save the dates for the e-party. Is your wedding 2010, then no dont even do std's, typically std's are sent out a year ahead of time for holiday weekend weddings or anywhere for 6-10 months before the wedding.

Food? if you booked a catering hall dont they have food? or is it a knights of columbus type place that you have to bring in your own food, if so then yes i would look into food, dj and cp's or whatever decorations you want. Also if you're doing favors look into that
