I am having my wedding at the THT and would like to know if there are any recent brides out their that would like to share their expierence. Feel free to email me. Thanks in advance for your input.
My friends just had their engagement party there last weekend. It was nice. I wasn't crazy about the food it was all buffet. I am not a fan of them. They had a viennese hour which was pretty nice. They did have a lot going on there at once though. There were like three other parties, but we were downstairs and we had our own bathroom and floor so the only way we saw pther people was if we went upstairs. One thing I did not like, was that there was no valet parking. My fiance let me out in front while he parked the car in a parking lot far away. Also, when we walked in, no one was there to tell us where to go. A lot of people were around and we got a little confused. If you do a search on here you may not get great results, but I will say that it was better than i expected.

Re: New Huntington Townhouse Brides
Missmmpr is correct. If you do a search you will read some pretty negative posts about HTH. But one of my closest friends got married there two years ago and I just don't see where those posts are coming from! We were in the downstairs room and, although my friend recalls seeing another bride before the ceremony, I don't remember seeing anyone from another wedding party. She got a great deal from them and excellent service. I thought it was a beautiful reception and had no problem with the food. The HTH gets beat up on around here, but don't let that bother you. I went to a beautiful reception there and I am sure your wedding will be beautiful as well!

Re: New Huntington Townhouse Brides
Yeah, everywhere I turn I hear bad news about Huntington Townhouse. More bad than good, so it does make me nervous. I plan to bring the negative remarks to there attention hopefully it will keep them on there toes.
About the valet parking, If the host of the function doesn't pay for valet parking the guest won't have it.
And about the # of brides. That was one of the first things I notice, but it doesn't bother me. The place is huge and beautiful enough for everyone to share and the room that I am using is on the top floor and it is in the back with its own lounge area.
It would be helpful, if the host put the room in which the function is being held on the invitation, be very specific is necessary because THT is a very big place. The front desk should be able to assist you if you know what room the function is in.
Thanks Gals, I appreciate everyones input good and bad.

Re: New Huntington Townhouse Brides
MY WEDDING RECEPTION IS GOING TO AT THE HUNTINGTON TOWNHOUSE AND I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS BEAUTIFUL THERE. AS FAR AS HAVING OTHER PARTIES GOING ON WHILE MINE IS DOES NOT BOTHER ME AT ALL. EVERY SINGLE TIME, I'VE BEEN THERE SOMEONE BESIDES THE RECEPTIONIST HAS GREETED ME AT THE DOOR TO TELL ME WHERE I SHOULD BE GOING.I'VE BEEN TO 2 WEDDINGS WITHIN THE LAST YEAR THERE AND THEY WERE TRULY GORGEOUS! AS FAR AS VALET PARKING GOES, IF THE PERSON HAVING THE PARTY DOESNT PAY FOR IT ..THEY WONT HAVE IT. LASTLY...IF IT WAS SOOO TERRIBLE, WHY WOULD IT BE BOOKED EVERY WEEKEND?????????

Re: New Huntington Townhouse Brides
Within the last few years it was sold so they are most likely getting the rap of the old one. I am sure everything will be fine. I know they have a lot of corporate and school functions.

Re: New Huntington Townhouse Brides
June04Bride... I am not sure why your message was all in caps. Are you mad or something? No one has said anything bad about the NHTH in this thread. In fact, everyone gave positive feedback on it. I am sure your wedding, and everyone else who is getting married there will be great. It is all about personal taste!

Re:New Huntington Townhouse Brides
Missmmpr- No, I'm not mad at all, I was just voicing my opinion and I can't agree with you more on how it depends on personal taste. As for the caps, I'm at work and I was doing something and that was the only reason.Everybody's wedding will be wonderful and great! You know what it is, when you're planning like crazy you just want everything to be perfect for your day and sometimes people just get sensitive. Did'nt want to come off like a witch- sorry about that!

CHECK out the BBB-
They have at least 6 complaints...I just went to a wedding there in April....HORRIBLE, I am sorry but the bride thought so too and she filed a complaint. Please do a search and you will see... They are booked every weekend because YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

NuBride- Where do I begin my search for The Huntington Townhouse? Can I ask what made the wedding in April so horrible?

Re: CHECK out the BBB-
Here is the link for the BBB on HTH. http://www.newyork.bbb.org/nis/newsearch2.asp?ID=1&strBCode=01210000&ComID=0121000000042040 If you cannot see it, go to www.bbb.org and type in The New Huntington Townhouse. When I first went there, I loved it, the rooms are beautiful- but I was suspicious of the VERY low price. As I researched, I saw that they do not have the best ratings from the BBB:
Customer Experience
The company's size, volume of business, and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number complaints received by the BBB. The number of complaints filed against a company may not be as important as the type of complaints, and how the company handled them. The BBB generally does not pass judgement on the validity of complaints filed.
Closed Complaints Total number of complaints processed by the BBB in last 36 months: 7 Total number of complaints processed by the BBB in last 12 months: 1
Complaints Concerned (Please understand that complaints may concern more than one issue) Credit/Billing Issues: 6 Defective/Damaged Merchandise: 1 Failure to Provide Service: 4 Delayed Service: 1 Failure to Provide Promised Adjustment: 1 Selling Practices: 6
Outcome of all complaints Full Adjustment: 3 Partial Adjustment: 1 Disputed: 2 No Response: 1
Good luck, hope this info helps.

Re: New Huntington Townhouse Brides
June04Bride- I feel so bad for you right now. Just remember that there are a lot of people who are probably happy with THT, hopefully the problems are few and far between. Remember what you liked about it, and don't worry if you can't change it. The most important thing is that you are marrying a wonderful guy and you have an awesome time at your wedding!!! If you do end up cancelling, I looked at the Meadow Club (I didn't end up booking it), but they had reasonable prices and we thought it was nice.

I am so sorry that this upset you, but it better you know all the information before you commit any more money. In order to do a search on more postings about the Huntington Townhouse..click search then put in the catering hall's name and it will bring you up several pages about this place. How many guests and what do you want to spend, I'm sure us girls can recommend several places.

Re: CHECK out the BBB-
PLease dont be upset, I went through the exact same thing with HTH. I went there, liked it, gave them money to hold the date, and then changed my mind after going there a few times (how do you think I knew where that link was!) . Dont feel like you are locked in if you are having second thoughts. I have found this board invaluable in planning-but keep in mind that your opinion matters the most for your day. You will know what will work for you. It loks like you are planning an '04 wedding, so you have plenty of time to find the place of your dreams.

Re: Sorry I forgot to answer you-
I copied and pasted what I orginal said back in April about The Huntington Townhouse, this is my experience with this place: I went to a wedding there on Friday and I have to say it was HORRIBLE. First of all there was no valet parking and it stormed that night and when we got there the available parking was on the other side of the building, second of all the place is so HUGE that we walked right into a sweet sixteen party that found it's way to the curb because the kids were all outside smoking cigarettes!.There was no staff whatsoever to direct us to the correct party so needless to say we were lost for about 7 mins or so and the elevator does not have an attendant so you have no idea what floor you are getting off on unless you ask somebody. When we made it to the cocktail hour we honestly were thinking, where is the food? It did not seem like they provided enough food for the entire party which was 130 people. There were not enough tables to accomadate the amount of people that were there. The food was luke warm and let me remind you we arrived late due to the weather, the fried calamari was fishy! It was so bad my husband spit it out right on the plate....It did not look like they refreshed the food, whatever was 'gone' it stayed gone. When it was time to go into the reception room, again there was no staff member to direct us into the correct room, there were 4 doors on the floor so my husband and I almost walked into someone else's party. When we got to the reception hall they started serving the first course before the best man made his speech!! When the waiter came around for the dinner orders...you were lucky he spoke english, I asked him what exactly was in the dish I ordered and he said 'I don't know'...The wait staff did not take drink orders at the table so regardless of what you were drinking you had to get up and get it yourself! My husband complained to the manager about the waiter not knowing exactly what he was serving. Here's the best part, the staff cut and served the cake for the bride and groom but never sent them home with a piece!! They forgot to pack their wedding cake! It was horrible!, they were also supposed to serve cappacino and that never came out. My friend called me last nite and asked me and I told her the truth and she was very much aware of the food and the rest of what was going on and she said she will put in a complaint (who knows if it will help) The mixed salad that was put on one of the plates at my table literally had two leafs of lettuce in it, how can a waiter leave a plate like that? I feel bad for my friend, but let this be a warning to anyone thinking about booking that place.

Re: CHECK out the BBB-
I went to a wedding at this hall and it wasn't the worst wedding I have ever been too. The cocktail hour food was good but I didn't like dinner at all. I am a picky eater though. The place was set up really nice. I don't think you should worry. The only thing I didn't like about them was they hold several functions at once and there was no one to direct people which room they should go in. We ended entering wrong rooms and stuff. You can probably have your hostesses do that though so you don't have that problem. for their rates though I think that is the best you will find for the money. I hear they start at $25pp and I have yet to find any hall in the area offering close to that at all.
