I believe that in NJ you get it from the brides hometown but since you are from LI, I would suggest going to FH hometown or maybe you should ask where you are getting married..

hi! i'm from NJ- i just like the advice these girls give on this site is your wedding in NJ or LI? i would think you would do it in LI if thats where the wedding is.... if the weddings in NJ, you go to the hometown ( usually the brides, but i guess in your case you would go to FIs) theres also a form to fill out, you need to bring a witness when both of you go to sign the license... we ran in to problems with getting all three of us together at the same time during the week- LOL. just do a google search for NJ marriage license- i think the info is all on a website somehwere...
