New job and preggo?

I am currently interviewing for a new job, as well as having DH breathe down my neck about TTC!

Anyone get a new job and get pregnant shortly thereafter? Tell me the good and bad, I am so uncertain!!!!!!

One bad thing about getting pregnant right after starting a new job is that you may not be eligible for 12 weeks of unpaid leave under the FMLA. In order to be eligible, you must be working at your job for at least one year prior to your medical leave. Of course, your new employer could be more accommodating, but if you don't qualify for protection under the FMLA, your employer is not required to give you 12 weeks of maternity leave or keep your job (or a similar job) open while you're on maternity leave.

Good luck.

I think I knew or heard somewhere that it must be a year to qualify.....but if I am there a year, do they have to keep my job under FMLA?

yes, and the year thing is true. A former colleague of mine started a new job here and got pregnant right afterwards and she got royally screwed and no longer works here.

If you qualify for protection, they have to keep your job or a similar job open for the 12 weeks of maternity leave. You can't be demoted or lose your job. However, if the employer has less than 50 employees, the employer is exempt from the FMLA.

hmmmm, I know the actual owner of the firm is Steve Madden, but I am not sure if the firm (which has less than 50 employees) is covered as Steve Madden.
