New job anxiety... who can relate?

Hi,

So in a few weeks, I'll be leaving my current job and starting a new job. I have met some great people at the job I've been at for the past 2 years, and am sad to leave them... DH and I moved to FL 2 years ago, and all the friends I've made so far are pretty much from my current job.... i'm sure I'll stay in touch with them, but it's scary to have to start somewhere new where you don't know anyone...

Also, i'm going to have a lot of responsibility at my new job and I'm nervous about living up to their expectations! DH is always telling me not to doubt myself and so on... He's really supportive and wonderful! I'm just wondering, any of you start a new job lately? How'd you deal with the anxiety?

TIA!

I completely understand. I lived in another state when I first met my FH, we dated for awhile but I knew that I would always go back to NY. I moved to NY, we dated long distance then I packed up again, to be closer to FH.
The new position that I got was a lot more responsibility then I previously had and I didn't know anybody in the state anymore. All of my friends moved back to NYC when I did.
All I can say is to realize that the new job picked you- they probably saw tons of applicants but they got a feeling that you can handle it. If employers see that, then you can definitely pull it off.
No need to worry about leaving your old co-workers, you can still hang out with them. Just look at it as now you can meet some new people in your new state.

So true. You'll make new friends at your new job and still keep in touch with the old ones. Sometimes it's great to hang out with people you don't work with! I'm in a similar situation...I moved to a new country to be with DH, so almost all of my friends are people I work with, so when we go out all we talk about is work. It's nice to hang out with people I don't see everyday sometimes.
