NEW! PICTURES: Animals from Katrina/Louisiana! 6 LEFT!

My husband and I went down to Louisiana to do animal rescue/help in shelters and when we returned we pulled 17 animals from kill shelters. These animals DO NOT have human guardians, they were slated to be killed to make room for Katrina 'victims', while being forgotten themselves. Some were surrendered by their guardians b/c the person didn't have the means to care for them after losing everything.

These 'others' are being put down in record numbers every day. The shelter that gave us most of these animals kills every 4 days, everything in the shelter that is not a Katrina 'rescue' that they must hold. So, every other animal gets killed.

This includes:

4 7-week old adorable kittens
3 12-week old adorable kittens
A purebred beagle
A daschund mix puppy (about 3 months)
3 feral (wild) cats who need patience and an experienced handler [these cats may be terrified house cats that ran with ferals to survive the aftermath of the flooding, we won't know till we try to socialize them]

Yes, all of these animals are now in my 1 bedroom apartment. They MUST have homes asap. I've already placed 4 dogs and 1 cat with good homes, please E-mail or call me if you're interested, I don't check FM often....

thank you so much for helping these animals who would surely die withought you. I wish I had room for one now, but I have 2 cats, a puppy, and a failing older dog. My prayers go to all of those wonderful animals, and people like you trying to help them!

There are still 2 pairs of kittens (14-16 weeks and 8 weeks) looking for their permanent homes!

The 10 month old kitty needs a home. She's actually a homeless girl from Brooklyn, but don't hold that against her. We were fostering her when we left for New Orleans...and she's seen several other cats go to good homes while she's passed over. There's nothing at all wrong with her, and she's sweet as pie. Consider her please.

And, we found out the 2-3 year old scaredy cat orange kitty is FELV+, so if you have a big heart and either other FELV+ kitties or no kitties, he could be the one for you! I will stay involved to help with the FELV if you wish to offer support, financial and other.
